The owner responded to my request for an early check in a month after I sent it. I was told that we could check in any time we wanted. The owner never sent the check in code for the door. We arrived at 10am with no way to get in. We called the owner, sent text messages, emailed, messaged through VRBO with NOTHING. There was supposed to be linen provided and we had a few beach towels and nothing else. Luckily the beds did have linens on them. Still waiting to hear back from VRBO on helping us at least get something back since we lost our first day and not to mention the groceries we bought on the way in that spoiled while we waited until the normal check in time of 4pm before we were able to get in. I waited 2 weeks before I made this review in hopes that VRBO would make this right, but nothing.

Great for boaters

The place was very clean and had everything you needed. Also able to run power down to the dock with an extension cord to charge batteries and had freshwater at the dock. Place was amazing. Enjoyed our stay!

Roomy Island Retreat

This home was a perfect retreat for our family and friends. The house is conveniently located with direct water access. It’s SIX bedrooms gave our family plenty of space. The house was clean, comfortable and well supplied. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals, including an oversized spice cabinet. We hope to visit again soon!

OIB family vacation

Our stay was nothing short of fabulous! This cottage was perfect for our entire family. It offered all the necessities we needed for our week; from kitchen supplies, to easy access to the intercoastal, the park for the kids, and the beach! The house rules were clear and easy to understand. We especially liked being allowed to bring our dogs, they are family too, and had just as much fun as we did!

It was great

We’ve stayed at this house a couple of times now. It is very well equipped and we love being on the canal as we bring our boat with us. It’s a very modest cozy cottage and we enjoy it every time. The owner is VERY friendly and helpful with any issues or questions. I would certainly recommend this cottage and we will definitely be back again! It also has some sentimental value to us as we lost our son and his best friend in a car accident in June and they were both with us last time we stayed here. It was bittersweet but very nice to be there.

This house is great! There was plenty of room for everyone and my 16 year old dog loved it! It was a short walk from ice cream, coffee and a couple shops. If you don’t want to walk to the beach I do recommend renting a golf cart in advance.

Just awesome!

If you have a reunion or multiple families this house is perfect!! There are 6 queen size beds and 2 twin! There is a downstairs for half of gusts only accessible if you go outside! We managed to work it so that we only used the upstairs! The location is perfect!! A short walk to the beach made entire vacation! We rented a pontoon that we parked at dock on property! Had never been to OIB and this sleepy beach town exceeded our expectations! Owner of this property was the most kind man! I texted him with only a few questions and he would immediately respond with a phone call! He was able to answer all of my questions! If you love fishing and the beach all you need for this location is a fishing pole and a beach towel! Would love to go back!!!

Nice location needs a little work.

Overall I loved the location next to the canal and the nice back yard. Stairs to front and rear decks need some work. I’m a large man and I was a little nervous about stepping on a few of the steps. Bobby’s info pack is the best I’ve seen in my many years of renting beach houses. It covered everything and was very helpful.

Amazing Quiet Canal Spot

Our family loved this house! It was the perfect amount of space for us, our 2 kiddos, and dog! The house was immaculate and equipped with all the necessary supplies 😁 the canal view in the evening was goregous and so peacefully. Bobby was absolutely wonderful and responded very quickly to any of our questions! 10/10 would recommend for a family vacation 😊

My husband & I (and 1 happy dog) enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable home. My husband was very thankful for recliner! Beds upstairs were comfortable as well. I recommend this house and we look forward to staying here again!

A wonderful Christmas getaway!

Great time!

We really enjoyed the location and the house itself. We brought our boat and we’re able to utilize the dock to keep it in the water all week and that was extremely convenient. We would certainly stay here again! The property owner was very responsive and easy to talk to as well!!

Beach + Boat access

We enjoyed our stay in this classic OIB home. Sipping coffee on the deck was a great way to start the day. Kitchen and bathroom supplies were well stocked. The beach access was one block down from the street entrance and it was a quick trip down the canal with our boat to the dock.

Great time

This house was great. 13 of us enjoyed our stay. AC is amazing. Bath towels are not provided so take your own. The gas grill does not work just FYI. We had taken steaks to grill and didn’t get to enjoy that meal. We don’t like charcoal. Rent a golf cart and the ride to the beach is easy. We loved being on the water. The kids enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding, and fishing. The neighbors are very nice. There is a long clothes line for hanging out towels and clothes after you wash them. Everyone had a blast and I would definitely recommend this house.

The house was exactly as described but the layout was better than we anticipated. Everyone had their own space and I could have spent the entire weekend on the back deck watching boats. Everyone had a fabulous time!

Great Family Place

The house is well laid out. Our family was Mom and Dad, adult son and his girlfriend, adult daughter and her husband, 4 1/2 yo twin grandsons, and 1 yo granddaughter. This house provided just the right mix of togetherness and yet everyone had their own space too. The owners were very responsive in dealing with a few small issues. We'll be back!

Such a perfect spot for a larger group

We loved our stay! I’ve been coming to OIB for over 40 years and this was the perfect spot for our group of young and older adults. The older group was able to stay upstairs and the younger crew had their own space downstairs. Perfect for the guys wanting to fish from the dock or surf fish after a quick walk to the beach. We loved being able to bring the four legged family members too. Great place for a family trip. Bobby is a great host who was quick to respond with any questions I had.
