Not great.

Wouldn’t stay here again. Staff friendly. Room dusty and dirty. No shower gel. False eyelash in on bed. Curtains dirty, and hanging off the rail. Cigarette lighter found on floor.

Never again!

So I stayed a couple of weeks ago and had a less than great experience. However, I’d already got this trip booked so thought, let’s give them another chance. Wish I’d not bothered. So we were given a ‘free upgrade’ to a Junior Suite. To say disappointed was an understatement. The room was dirty, some of the furniture was damaged, walls had lumps missing from them, and the sofa-bed mattress was like a science experiment (see photos). The carpet had clearly not been hoovered, with hairs and bits all over it. The ceiling light was covered in cobwebs and dust. The headboard was disgusting and had a layer of dust you could roll up. The bathroom, whilst laid out nicely, had damaged furniture in it. A slightly random thing, but the sink design meant you couldn’t get the coffee machine or kettle under it (see photos). The fridge had a broken foot, so whenever you opened it stuff slid out. As a side note, I’ve seen they use the same room in photos to describe a Standard Room and a Privilege Room, yet this was our ‘upgraded room’ (from Privilege to Junior Suite) when we stayed. I wouldn’t 100% trust the photos as a true representation of what you’ll get. Would I stay again - absolutely not! It’s the simple things they’ve not got right - cleanliness and maintenance.
Stained carpet and sofa.
Heavily stained mattress.

We booked a city pad and knew it was going to be small but that was fine but it was a dingy room no decor like pics curtains closed when entered room not surprised with the dingy view, bathroom door handle came off in my hand on inside as soon as got there was fixed while we were out so that was good but then to see a few days b4 a review about it in same room so and they had replied to it so why wasnt it fixed b4 next people went in? Then the bedding wellll dried blood on both pillows and the duvet was absolutely full of yellow stains i mean it was disgusting and 1 plug socket right behind the cabinet with big telly on in the whole room. The hotel wasnt interested said no refund or even partial one they didnt even answer any of my emails and messages rude .

Poor experience - not all their fault

I stayed for one night due to attending an event in Nottingham City. The entrance to the hotel is lovely, modern, and well maintained. However, the room was a different matter. The air conditioning didn't work (it was centrally set to "eco mode" which meant you couldn't switch it to air conditioning) and the room was very hot. Some of the furniture was old and in need of some TLC. I had an internal facing room, and after getting to the room I could hear staff in the courtyard below my window talking loudly and swearing. Due to the hotness of the room, I left the window slightly open overnight; however, the noise from other rooms was constant. All night from midnight to 5am, drunk people were up and down the corridor outside my room shouting, swearing, and banging on doors. I attempted to contact reception; however, no one answered the phone. I've had good experiences at the Mercure Nottingham City Centre; however, this stay has left A LOT to be desired. At check out, staff didn't ask how the stay had been.

Amazing stay and amazing prices. Friendly staff.

One of the cheapest hotels in Notts but the quality for the price is unmatched. Very fair prices, great location and very friendly staff. Staff aren’t afraid to go out of their way to help you during your stay if you require a phone charger or anything just enquire with them at the front desk. For the oldest hotel in Nottingham it’s pretty good inside, air con works amazing, TVs are great and the bathroom despite not being 100% spotless was still very nice. Room had a mini fridge, bath towels and even a bath robe which was very cool. Recommend for anyone on a budget that wants a good stay for a fair price (bargain price) or even if you have cash then enjoy the best room they offer which is the one I stayed in.

Great historical hotel in the Centre of the city

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at the Mercure Hotel in Nottingham City Centre. We booked with Hotels.com and used our Tesco Clubcard points/vouchers to pay for the room. We booked a standard double room and when we arrived at the hotel the Front Desk staff had upgraded us to a Premium King room for free. This included mini-fridge with complementary soft drinks, king bed and slippers and bathrobes. The room was tastefully decorated and had great facilities. The water pressure was strong and the only downside was that the mattress was slightly too firm for my taste. We had the buffet breakfast included and the selection was plentiful and delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to our next trip.
