Today Casa Mabeas is an oceanfront home for 14 - steps to the sand, across a quiet gravel lane - built for families, surf crews and private retreats. Six bedrooms across three connected structures, with an open-air rancho kitchen as the social heart. A/C and blackout shutters in every bedroom, Starlink Wi-Fi, outdoor shower and hammocks. Rustic, open-air and close to nature: here the day is set by the tide.

THE LAYOUT
Three connected structures on a gentle slope, close enough to gather, far enough apart for quiet.
1. The Rancho - open-air kitchen and dining, the social heart of the house.
2. Lower rooms - main lounge with hammocks, 3 king bedrooms and 1 with two twins.
3. Upper rooms - quieter: 1 king, 1 bunk room (sleeps 4), shared bath, small patio.

OUR FAMILY'S BEACH
What began as our grandfather's fishing camp is now a home three generations have grown into. The layout grew with the family, and that is why it's special.

Full access to the entire property: all three structures, the rancho, the lounge areas, the gardens and the beach path.
A host meets you at check-in for a quick 5-10 minute orientation and stays available by WhatsApp throughout your stay.

HOUSEKEEPING (INCLUDED)
Pre-arrival setup and post-departure cleaning. On stays of 7+ nights and on retreats we add a mid-stay refresh: common areas, bathrooms, fresh towels, trash and recycling.

STARTER ESSENTIALS
Beach towels, basic soap and shampoo, starter toilet paper, trash bags, coffee and drinking water.

PARKING
2 spaces at the rear plus up to 4 in front. 2WD access year-round.

OPEN-AIR HOME
This is a rustic, open-concept tropical house - that is the charm, and it is worth knowing before you book. Bathrooms are reached from outdoor walkways, not from inside the bedrooms. Bring flip-flops.

BEACH ACCESS
The beach is steps away, across a quiet gravel lane.

BATHROOMS
3 bathrooms in total. 1 has hot water; the others are ambient temperature, which most guests find ideal after a day in the sun.

WILDLIFE
You will share the property with the tropics: howler monkeys at sunrise, insects, ants, the occasional raccoon and mosquitoes in the green season. Bedrooms have screens, fans and A/C.

PETS
Up to 3 pets welcome, $50 per pet per stay. Shaded outdoor areas are available for pets under guest supervision. No pets on beds. Pets may be left unattended only outside the bedrooms, at the guest's own risk.

NEIGHBORHOOD
South Guiones is the quiet end of Playa Guiones: fewer people, wider sand, the same world-class sunsets. The beach is steps from the house, across a quiet gravel lane.
Tide pools: ~5 min walk (low tide only)
Main surf break: ~20 min beach walk / ~10 min drive
North Guiones (restaurants, yoga studios, shops, groceries): ~10 min drive / ~30 min beach walk
Clinic and pharmacy: ~10 min drive
Nosara airstrip: ~20 min (small aircraft only)
Liberia (LIR) airport: ~2 hrs drive

GETTING AROUND
A car is recommended. The road to the house is 2WD-accessible year-round, including green season.
Liberia (LIR) is the main airport, about 2 hours away. Nosara airstrip is 20 minutes out for small aircraft.
Inside Guiones most people move by ATV, bicycle or on foot along the beach at low tide.
