Our family (Mom, Dad, 3 adult children and 1 soon-to-be son-in -law) spent our vacation in this charming house. When I book a rental house I hope it lives up to its description and photos. Happy to report that this house does! Five good sized bedrooms on the second floor, Two full baths (1 on each floor). Each bedroom was equipped with a ceiling fan with supplemental box fans located in closets. Plenty of counter space in the fully-equipped kitchen for meal prep, large dining table can seat 10 persons. Pool is accessed through a back sliding door/deck, up a slight hill via large slate stairs. Pool seating was 2 cushioned chairs and ottoman with large umbrella and a cushioned couch seating area. There are no chaise lounge chairs. Pool area and the gardens that surround the house and pool were nicely maintained. Items to note/recommend: 1) Do your grocery shopping before arriving at the house. Full service grocery stores (Hannafords, Shaws, Price Chopper) are 30+ minutes from the house. There is a general store .4 miles from the house that can supply you with grocery basics, but you'll pay for the convenience. 2) The house is situated approx. 30 feet from a road. Although I would characterize traffic as "infrequent" (i.e.: less than 30 vehicles per day), when vehicles pass by it is typically at a high rate of speed. 3) We needed to initiate an international phone service plan with AT&T as our phones thought we were in Canada. 4) The Jay Peak Recreational Centre is located .2 miles from the house. It might be easy to dismiss it based on its rather non-descript entrance but the Centre contains some well-marked trails through the woods, along rushing stream waters. Definitely worth a visit. 5) The banging noise we heard one early evening was a bear taking the prior week renter's garbage from the can in front of the house and dashing off into the woods with it. Be mindful of what food you leave out of doors.
