Very old fashioned style hotel and posh(which I didn't expect). The staff and receptionist were very friendly and helpful despite our original room reassigned due to bookings. The room was nice but needed a good clean from dust behind the bed and unempty dirty bins in the bathroom and near the top of the ceiling near the tele, there were mold and damp damage (which we reported and we're given discount). Other than the room the pool, food and hotel experience was great.

Stayed for one night as attending a function at the hotel. Great for a 3 star, lovely big room with only minor issues, no tea bags, lights on the dressing table and bathroom mirror need new bulbs and no shampoo/soap in the bath dispenser. Comfortable bed, good room temperature great breakfast lovely staff

My new favourite Newcastle hotel.

Lovely place full of period detail. Staff excellent, and the spa was a huge bonus, given the price. It's small, but I found it comfortable and not too busy. Bed was great, shower decent, good sized room and general facilities were excellent. Breakfast was great, very tasty. Coffee was good too.

We’ve never stayed in a noisier room. The carpet was disgusting as were the walls drapes. Bathroom was in ruff shape.Bed wasn’t in terrible condition. The noise from downstairs kept us awake most the night

Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms a bit dated but given age it still offers a good charmed stay. One issue I did find was room was still warm after turning radiator low. South facing window means sun early but no major issue. Noise is minimal even tho station is just a short distance. Used leisure facility and would advise wet shoes as changing is up stairs for pool and fitness, with pool downstairs. Overall would recommend the hotel.

Conveniently next to the railway station and short walk from the office I was visiting. No indication of any VIP offers nor upgrade offers which seemed strange when Expedia mentioned. Room looked tired and no double glazing windows although room was warm and tidy enough. Overall fine for short stay.

The property is clean tidy and value for money and would have been given 5 star rating however. Due to an error at the hotel I was charged twice for early checkin and parking on two seperate cards this was sorted promptly so wasn't a huge issue. But since we got home we have been charged for the room again which is now pending and made the money unavailable in my bank balance. When I called I was told it may take 5 days to sort out due again to some sort of error. In this time I am unable to use my own money which is ridiculous and wrong. No compensation offered in anyway shape or form and they weren't very sympathetic of the situation dispute it being the second time and their fault. Very disappointed in the service provided and wouldn't recommend for this reason.

Very central (of course), good customer service. A little tired in spots which isn't unusual for a period property like this. The twin room was in my opinion in need of some renovation and was very warm (heating stuck on). The walls also appeared quite thin which was unfortunate for us having nosy neighbours. Overall decent value for money though, so can't complain too much.

The hotel is amazing to go into, great architecture and looks good. However to access our room we had to use stairs ( which we were warned about). The room was lovely, but we were a little confused by the earplugs issued by the hotel. The curtain had fallen off the railing at the first ring so wasn't fully close able . We reported this to reception and they sent up someone who shut it to the best of their abilities. The earplugs became invaluable as we settled down to sleep. The noise of sirens, and drunks permeated through the room and then about 3am there was a loud crash as the mirror came loose from one side and hit the desk. Again we reported this to reception the next morning. If we didn't have these issues with noise and mirrors waking us up, it would have been a great stay. The breakfast in the morning was really good and the staff amazing!

Our room had blistering paint on the ceiling, black mold throughout the bathroom, a non-functioning air conditioner and refrigerator. Overall, the staff was friendly, and I’m sure that there are nice rooms, but be warned that if you are staying anywhere between rooms 218 and 245, it will not be up to par. The “spa” area is a joke at best. The sauna was cold, the jacuzzi was out of order, and the facilities are filthy. I would not recommend staying at the Royal Station Hotel. Visit the restauraunt however! Our servers Liz and Leon were lovely.
