Fantastically underwhelming
I went all out and booked what I though was going to be a luxury stay in Baqueira Beret.
The first sign that all was not going to be luxury was the ‘Welcome Pack’ that contained 2 dishwashing tabs, one clothes washing tab and a dishcloth. We had to laugh. No welcome bottle of fizz, no chocolate to be seen and certainly no firewood. No salt or pepper in the empty shakers, no olive oil or any condiments of any description - just a very bare and empty apartment. There were 3 mugs, all freebies from a pharmaceutical company - 2 were chipped and one had a handle missing. There was also no kettle so we boiled water in a saucepan all week for our tea. All of the crockery and cutlery looked like they’d been used solidly since the 1970’s : )
The electricity blew out one afternoon and we had a team of electricians trying to sort it out for a few days. They did in the end but there was still no lights or extractor fan in the kitchen. I have to say all of the staff we met, including the electricians - were great. But the quality of the apartment was so below average; the bedding, furniture, pillows and decor were really substandard.
We still had a great time, but for the price we paid (€7k for the 2 of us for a week) we were hoping for a much more comfortable experience.
