I booked this hotel for its location near the Oktoberfest venue, which is definitely convenient. But beyond that, the experience didn’t match the high price. Room amenities and bed linens are only refreshed every 7 days—apparently for environmental reasons. While I appreciate sustainability, this felt more like cost-cutting than eco-friendly service. Communication with staff is only through WhatsApp, which isn’t ideal if you need quick help. The bathroom was a major issue. Water didn’t drain properly, and I had to keep turning the tap on and off every few seconds during my shower to avoid flooding the floor. It was stressful, not relaxing. There’s no air-conditioning, so I had to open the window for ventilation. Unfortunately, guests were dining and drinking outside until midnight, and their conversations echoed into my room—making sleep difficult.

Spacious rooms for a European hotel. Five minutes walk to Oktoberfest and 15-20 min to Old City. The bar and courtyard were a great place to wind down after long days. Great water pressure from the rain shower and handheld spigots. Plenty of strange and well stocked kitchenette.

The hotel is great, and the staff is very helpful. Rooms are quite large and have a small kitchen area. Be aware that there is not daily housekeeping, but you can ask for clean towels, etc. when needed. The upside of this location is that it was super close to Oktoberfest - literally a 5 minute walk! It's also very close to the train station.The downside of the location is that it's not a great area of Munich.I would not feel safe in this area if I were out alone at night.

The property is clean and comfortable. Although the hob and microwave/oven are top of the line it took me 2 days to figure out how to use it. I never mastered the hob or the dishwasher. There were no instructions in the room, but when requested a link was sent to me on WhatsApp for a video. No phone in the room, just use WhatsApp. The bathroom was also clean and modern, but if you use your own toileteries (shampoo & conditioner) the drain could not cope and the bathroom flooded. Drains ok if hotel toileteries used. The communal areas also clean and well kept. It's worth noting that in Munich the supermarkets and shops are mostly closed, so stock up on other days. The location of the hotel is perfect for the ubahn and central station, it's worth going to the central station and asking about the best tickets on offer, until you get used to using the ticket machines.

Fantastic stay!

Loved staying here for 6 nights. Hotel has everything you need and is close to restaurants and grocery stores. It’s in a quiet and safe location. This is the second time I’ve stayed in a Locke property and will continue to look for this brand in future travels.

Great stay at Schwan Locke

Really loved our stay here. Location was good but the room was lovely, clean, a good size, comfy bed and nice modern decor. Amenities in the room were good, they’d thought of everything, even having a little magnet to put over the light on the microwave at night! It was also so quiet, didn’t hear anything from fellow travellers or much noise from the street despite it being busy and the height of summer so rooms must have been well sound proofed.

The hotel itself was excellent and we knew it was about a 25 minute walk to the central plaza. Our only complaint was that it is in a very noisy Turkish, arabic/middle eastern part of town, and as two females travelling, there were catcalls and stares as we walked through.. we didn't always feel super safe.
