Tucked deep in an enchanting Appalachian Mountain Holler(Hollow, if we want to be more formal), Babbling Brook Cabin feels like something out of a movie scene—or the pages of a storybook. From the moment you begin the drive up the gravel road, you’re greeted with views so charming they almost feel unreal. Perfectly situated at 3,900 feet above sea level, this 2,441 sq ft mountain haven blends the rustic beauty of the Blue Ridge with the timeless elegance of an English countryside home, a reflection of one of the owners who was raised in the United Kingdom. The result? A cozy, welcoming escape that feels both grand and familiar—like a mountain lodge and a charming English country house rolled into one.
Set on 43 private acres, our property borders the 4,500-acre Grayson Highlands State Park—home to famous wild ponies and endless panoramic views. A marked trail winds from the cabin to the top of the property, reaching nearly 4,000 feet above sea level, where you can take in the sweeping mountain scenery in total privacy. Wildlife is abundant—watch deer wander the apple trees, chipmunks and groundhogs play along the trails, and countless bird species that make our land a birder’s dream.
In spring, the hillsides are alive with meticulously planted blooms and a rainbow of wildflowers. In summer, enjoy cool mountain breezes and take a refreshing dip in one of our three spring-fed waterfalls and natural pools (swim at your own risk—life jackets provided). Autumn paints the landscape in rich golds, reds, and oranges, while winter brings peaceful snowfall that transforms the property into a wonderland.

Magical Place
Our stay was truly magical. We arrived in the evening and sat on the porch watching triple sparkling - fireflies, amazing stars, and lightening in the distance. The next day we got up and went to the park for an amazing hike with loads of wild pony sightings. Then came home to a cold plunge in the watering hole. So refreshing. The kiddos had a blast looking for salamanders and crawdads and chipmunks and blackberries. We had an amazing time cooking in the gorgeou kitchen and eating dinner on the covered porch. Then we came inside for the cozy movie on the reclining couch and chairs. It was an amazing and restorative experience and we already are talking about when we might be able to come back! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing property with us.

Great place for a quiet getaway.
The property was very nice with great outdoor space to explore when we weren't hiking or exploring the area. The trails on the property were easy to follow, and we saw lots of birds and deer. We enjoyed the proximity to Grayson Highlands and Mount Rogers. Great place to unwind!

Wonderful family vacation
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely property! The grounds are beautiful and the outdoor spaces were fantastic as well. We had a fire pit every night and enjoyed many hikes on the property as well as Grayson Highlands Park. We had a lovely day on the Virginia creeper Trail. We did have a medical emergency requiring an ER visit while we were there and we were grateful for the emergency information on the refrigerator. It was special getaway for our family.

Fantastic Stay near Grayson Highlands!
We absolutely loved this location for both the amenities and the proximity to Grayson Highlands. Our kids loved all the wonderful outdoor space. Inside had everything we needed for the stay. It was incredibly close to Grayson Highlands, which made getting over there easy on multiple days. We brought our Tesla, and the Level 2 car charger worked great. We’ve already scheduled our time to return. Highly recommend!

Wonderful mountain cabin
I have been wanting to visit Grayson Highlands for some time now. Every time I looked, I noticed that there are not many good options for places to stay near by. We hit the jackpot with this house! It was very close to the park and the landscaping/yard is picture perfect. I could have spent all day outside but the inside is also super cozy and so well done. The pictures online don't actually capture the charm of the inside of the cabin. The cabin was also really well stocked, including tons of games for our family. The wifi is great too. My only caution is that the stairs to the upstairs (where three of the four bedrooms are located) are really sketchy ladder stairs. These weren't pictured in the listing. My kids are 8, 10, and 12 and handled them without incident but if they were younger it could have been an issue.

The cabin was so cute and full of character. I wish our stay had been longer. Everyone that was with me talked about planning a trip to come back with their family. The host was amazing when i called at 8:45pm at night with an issue. She picked right up and got the issue fixed.

Quiet Mountain Retreat
Fantastic cozy cabin getaway. Spent a day on the Creeper then another day at Grayson Highlands, and this place fit the bill for our family. Exactly as described. I could sit on that porch all day listening to the “babbling” brook and falls. Well-stocked kitchen. We especially enjoyed the wide array of tea and small batch coffee options. Spacious living area. Comfortable beds. Very clean. We saw plenty of wildlife as advertised: deer, chipmunks, frogs etc. Wish we had more time to explore the trails! Next time…Can’t recommend this place enough.

A beautiful gem hidden away in the mountains
We loved this cabin so much, and we can't wait to return! It's very private, with an incredible landscaped yard and so much space to explore and hike. Just a 10 minute drive from Grayson Highlands state park. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has everything you could want with so many thoughtful touches. Incredibly comfortable beds, well appointed kitchen, fantastic games for kids, we almost didn't want to leave the house! The view can't be beat, and we wish we had stayed a whole week instead of just a weekend. Communication with the owners was great One of the best VRBO rentals I've ever experienced.
