This house has a good layout, hardwood floors in the main area, and is in a quiet neighborhood.
It reminds me of a rental house for college students that the landlord decided didn’t need maintenance. There are screws, nails, and marks on the walls throughout the house. There is a definite dog smell, especially in the stairwell, and some dog hair, but I can tell there was an effort made since the last review. The house had been cleaned, but only spackling, paint, and ripping up the carpet will make a difference. There were some pieces of cute, farmhouse décor, but they didn’t really fit with the scuffed-up walls and dog smell.
The kitchen contents are a mish-mash of chipped plates, plastic dishes, pots and pans, and storage containers. The refrigerator and freezer had leftover food. The bathrooms were cluttered with used toiletries. The description clarifies that the office can be used as a bedroom with a blowup bed (provided), but there were no blankets and pillows for the room. 2 people could not sleep in the queen-sized bed without 1 falling to the middle. There were also no mirrors in 2 of the bedrooms. It lists the house as a 6-person rental, but there is only a small kitchen table with 4 chairs. The washing machine was broken. My husband was a trooper and went to the laundromat for everyone.
I think it’s more of a misunderstanding of the VRBO culture, where owners provide a "home away from home" experience. With some changes this could be a good rental.
