Hotel was conveniently located in the city center. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower water was hot. Not a new hotel but we were expecting this and liked the antique feeling. Good for the price. The staff is nice and professional.

The lobby picture says it all.

Pro- Awesome building!!!. Helpful staff & perfect location. Con- nothing major, No breakfast. Coffee either in room or the lobby would have been nice (not a Starbucks fan) A/C unit would not shut off. Would definitely stay here on future trips!

This historic hotel is very charming, the lobby is very impressive but the rooms still need to be updated. We had originally booked a larger room with 2 beds with a sitting area because of our 5 night stay but had to request being moved after the first night because of the dingy carpet, dusty furnishings, cracked paint on the walls and uneven flooring. The next morning we were moved to a smaller corner room with a view, without carpet but the stained furniture in the sitting area definitely needed to be cleaned. On the plus side, the bedding and towels were clean and the room did have the original charm we had expected from the history of this hotel. The hotel does not have a restaurant but walkable to many restaurants and shops and around the corner from the main cathedral and main plaza. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. This charming hotel could be a 5 star if they updated the rooms

Loved the elegant old-time style with 16 ft ceilings, gorgeous doors, tiles and marble, balconies galore. Nice clean rooms and linens. Also exceptional service. Not the place for in-house entertainment. No pools etc. Some tiles are a bit worn, otherwise perfect!

Hotel is a gem, has history but, needs an urgent update/renovation. Seems like there is lack of interest from management to upkeep the property. There are a couple other hotels right next door, same type of historic hotels that are wonderful, we actually had breakfast at the hotel next door and it was beautiful and the owner was there every single day., possibly more expensive of course. The Gran Hotel Merida was perfect for us due to location, the pictures from the website is what made me make reservations but once there, I was a little disappointed. Not bad for the price and if you only care to have a place to sleep.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The common areas are really nice but this is an older property and could benefit from some remodeling. That said, the rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and all the AC worked well. The room was also very clean. A terrific value for the money!
