La Hotel Makati was incredible. I first checked in at the Fairmont, but the room was disappointing, so I switched to Shangri-La, which was the best decision. The staff was so welcoming. Erik's care and recommendations were spot on. Warren, our bellman, helped with all our luggage and made sure everything was perfect before heading back to the US. Our room was luxurious, and the views were amazing. Thanks to Moli, Mark, and Jerilyn for keeping everything perfect. Dining at The Circle, especially the breakfast buffet, was fantastic. Mama Belle and her team were so warm and inviting. The ladies at the Filipino dessert tables always made sure I had enough sweets. The bell staff was efficient and friendly, too. After the Fairmont experience, Shangri-La was just a breath of fresh air. Amazing service, kind staff, and luxurious rooms made it feel like home. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Makati and can't wait to return!

We did not try the breakfast buffet but one morning we ordered one fried eggs breakfast at the lounge area because there were few people there and was told wait was 20-30 minutes. It took over an hour for the breakfast to arrive and was cold when finally delivered! Told the manager of the lounge and she apologized but no explanation. We should have left after 30 minutes since we had plans and limited time but they kept saying it was coming. Strangely they had no Chardonnay wine at the bar by the glass. I thought maybe it was not available in the Philippines but it was available at every other hotel we stayed in the country and at the supermarket. The people at the concierge desk were very helpful. One strange thing is that they close the bar at 4 pm (to prepare for dinner I was told). When most bars start Happy Hour they close! Had dinner at the restaurant by the bar and I ordered the “Scottish Trout”. It was Salmon! I told the waitress that they are either cooking the wrong fish or it is a real bad translation of salmon. The coffee latte the serve is the size of an espresso shot. Lot of things didn’t make sense. It is a high class, expensive hotel and I’m sure many people love it but I won’t return since there are better choices for me at that price range. I got the impression they cater to the Asian market.

My stay was great. All the staff were very very courteous and helpful. My only reason for 4 stars is that there was an old/mold smell coming from either the AC in my room or somewhere which often affected my sinuses. Everything else was great.....food and service!
