First impression was a beautiful hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. Bar area looked great offering cocktails. Lovely foyer/reception area. Room was clean and had all we needed overlooking the river. Bathroom a bit tired, wire hanging below bath panel. Door very worn. Difficult to get shower temp right - either scalding hot or cold! Howver overall our stay was great and i would return and also recommend.

Disappointing

All very lovely when you walk into the entrance but the room was not in the cleanest of states so when I went down to complain I was met by two receptionists who said “well you paid for a standard room” and my response was that that was no excuse for a dirty room so another very lovely receptionist took me to look at other rooms and found one that appeared much cleaner but was told it would be an extra £60 so I paid that but it turned out the beds were not balanced , the tv wasn’t working and the kettle was dangerous and had the wire taped. Maintenance was called and they rectified the issues however waiting for them and unable to relax was not the stay we’d wanted. Beds awful pillows not comfy but I guess that’s what they call standard class these days even when you pay extra for a so called upgraded room

I was at this hotel for two nights as a solo guest on business, Canary Wharf is not somewhere I would stay on a recreational trip. The hotel is pretty big and there appeared to be a mixture of UK and foreign tourists and workers when I was there. The hotel from my research appears to be by far the cheapest around, being between a quarter/third of the price of all the numerous others, hence its popularity. It is fair to say I had no problems durimg my stay and it served my purpose adequately. But I was confused on what criteria constitutes it being 4 Star. The room itself, an exec double was pretty big as hotel rooms go. It had high ceilings, but little the way of furniture, which look sparse in vast space, and was tired and worn, with chips and marks on the dresser. One of the sliding doors of my wardrobe didn’t! The same could be said for the communal areas with peeling wallpaper, damaged wood panels and a generally unloved feeling. This extended to the breakfast room. It had views of the extensive Canary Wharf waterways but the windows were so dirty you could hardly see it. One of the two coffee machines didnt work, one of the two toasters didnt work. I didn't go in there at peaks time thankfully, as I imagine the queues would be huge. The food itself was fine. The staff, although pleasant enough in the main, were largely disinterested, not the attentive norm that you'd find in what I would term a proper 4 star. Parking is a nightmare and expensive, don't drive!!

Staff was very unfriendly. The machine in the car park didn’t work, had to walk back up to lobby and sorry it with rude staff. Our keys stop working after day 1 and had to go all way back up to the lobby, not to mention we only got 1 key to start. It was absolutely roasting hot in the room. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless it’s the last available place in London to stay.

The room was a great price at such short notice. They provided bathroom stuff. Which was brilliant as it was last minutes. The only down side we had a dog in the hotel, the trains we a bit noisy as the window rattled. Bed were comfortable and clean.

I appreciate the room upgrade that was offered; however, I was quite disappointed with the level of customer service received. The team's body language and overall attitude came across as disinterested and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced far better service from smaller hotel chains. Based on this encounter, I don't anticipate choosing to return or recommending the hotel in the future.
