This is a lovely.vig spacious hotel with plenty of space in and around the property. The staff are brilliant, the bar area is great, the breakfast is excellent and the rooms are lovely and well decorated and themed on Haydock Racecourse and Horse Racing somits perfect for reaching enthusiasts and anybody else. The air-conditioning isn't the best in the rooms and the hallways at the rear of the building but the reception and communal areas at the front are well air conditioned. We were supplied fans and the blackout curtains kept the room cool formour second night. I think someone, pretty the previous guests, decided to leave the heating on full in the middle of a heatwave. I wish I would have thought of that one when I was a child!! Ha ha.

Won’t be staying here again as the hotel was tired and dirty, no toiletries in either the room or pool area (bottles all empty), and people fighting in the corridor until all hours with no response from reception because the phone lines are broken and the only way to make contact is via a QR code.

The bathroom was dirty and there was mould around the bath. Could not have a bath have complained to the hotel and they said they would give you should give us a 50% refund the hotel. I sent you an email and I am waiting to hear from you, the hotel was not too Expedia standards. I am very disappointed. I hope you get back to me soon.

I called the day before I booked a room to ensure as it stated online that all rooms are had air-conditioning due to the extreme weather at the time. I moved to 3 different rooms all the air-conditioning units were broken. Reception explained to me that all the other rooms that were currently empty all had air-conditioning issues. I was given a fan for the room that basically recirculated hot air. I was told I was free to arrange another hotel for the subsequent nights of my stay, no help at all.

The Expedia specific room was terrible. Peeling paint and wallpaper, nonfunctioning air conditioner and the windows were screwed shut. Additionally, I found a carpet bug in the bed... So gross. I give 2 stars instead of none because the staff were some of the loveliest people I have ever worked with. So kind, so considerate. I wish for their sake I could give a better score. Also, please note if you book the room through Expedia, then you have to pay to use the pools. Wish I knew that ahead of time as I would not have bothered.

Our stay at The Mercure Hotel, Haydock

Samantha, the Receptionist went out of her way to help us book a taxi on a very busy evening. Tom Jones was in Concert at Haydock Racecourse and we were heading there. All staff were very helpful in the restaurant. The room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good. The Hotel was further away from the racetrack than I expected it to be. The older generation (like me 😊) and people with disabilities would be unable to walk there. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
