12th Century Chateau midst 20 acres bordered by river, with private pool

The gite is located in the oldest part of the chateau which was originally a Donjon (defensive tower). In the 16th century it was turned into accommodation and the large stone staircase was added to access the 3 floors. Original 1m thick walls keep the house cool during the hot summers.

On the ground floor there is a fully equipped kitchen/dining room and lounge with doors leading to the patio. On each of the 1st and 2nd floors are 3 bedrooms which comprise of 2 double bedrooms (one with an ensuite shower room), a twin room and a family bathroom (bath & shower). The full gite (3 floors) sleeps 12 people. The price in the calendar is for the full gite (6 bedrooms). If you need only 3 bedrooms (max 6 people) , then talk to me before you book to obtain a discount. Whether you book it as a 'half' or full gite, the gite will not be rented out to others during your stay.

Mature trees in the 20 acre grounds shelter many birds and other wildlife including deer and wild boar. The pool area provides a refreshing cool-down, or just somewhere to soak up the sun. A summer kitchen allows the family to bbq and al fresco dining. We have our own boules court and badminton & boules sets are provided for use, as is a croquet set.

Being set in the middle of its 20 acres of grounds, Chateau Floran has a very peaceful atmosphere, bird song is heard all day and on a clear night the stars are amazing. We have a very friendly dog (who loves children) 2 cats, and 3 chickens. If the children want to help feeding the chickens or collecting the eggs, then just let us know!

There are many quiet lanes to cycle on and walks through the woods in the local area and 45 mins will take you right into the Pyrenees, and Spain less than an hour. Historical Aurignac is 12mins away with shops and restaurants, and Saint Gaudens is 12 mins in the other direction. Latoue has a fishing lake, and play area for children including a basketball court. It also hosts a market and pizza van on a Friday evening.

A very well-appointed property which catered very well for our extended family of 9, ages ranging from 1 to 75. There was ample space for us not to be under each others' feet and enough bathrooms for each family (and a teenage granddaughter!). The outdoor facilities were excellent including the summer kitchen/ barbecue area, the variety of games equipment and (especially) the fabulous swimming pool.There is ample shade around the property for those extremely hot southern French days.Access to the mountains is very easy and they can be seen clearly from the surrounding area.The hosts, Mary-Jo and John are excellent and helpful without being intrusive.As a very rural area car is, of course essential, and shops are a 1- - 15 minute drive away; the baker in St Marcet is, however, worth the morning drive for excellent bread and pastries!.We strongly recommend Chateau Floran

Super Stay for Family Group!

As a group of nine, including two children (8 & 10), Chateau Floran was a great fit for us. The facilities are great and the hosts perfect. The chateau itself is beautiful and surrounded by nature which can only ensure a relaxing stay. There are lots of lovely places to investigate within easy reach. We didn’t want to leave! We hope to visit again sometime, but until then wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thank you!

Un bon sejour

Nous avons passé un séjour agréable chez MJ. Les extérieurs sont bien aménagés et particulièrement adaptés pour des vacances entre amis avec des enfants, ce qui a grandement contribué à notre plaisir. Cependant, nous avons trouvé l’intérieur un peu moins accueillant. Il manquait de chaleur, ce qui nous a empêchés de profiter pleinement de la maison. Heureusement, le beau temps était au rendez-vous, ce qui nous a permis de passer la plupart de notre temps à l’extérieur. Nous tenons à remercier Jonathan et MJ pour leur attention et leur souci de notre confort tout au long du séjour.

Excellent séjour en famille

Séjour remarquable où nous avons parfaitement supporté la chaleur grâce à la superbe piscine entretenue quotidiennement et l' intérieur très frais de cette belle et ancienne demeure aux murs epais. Les hôtes ont eu le souci que nous ne manquions de rien, leur présence n'a d'egal que leur discrétion. Les equipements interieurs et exterieurs complets nous ont facilité la tenue des repas malgre notre grande tablee de 12. Le cadre est enchanteur. Je ne pourrais énumérer tous les charmes de cette location ! A decouvrir.... L'espace ainr qu'à l'exfait adap à chacun

Un séjour magnifique

Mes amis et moi avons passé une semaine dans cette superbe demeure. Tout y es pour y passer un très bon séjour : des chambres spacieuses, une grandes piscine, un terrain de pétanque et de nombreuse activités d'extérieurs. Mary-Jo est très agréable et sympathique et sa maison d'une propreté exemplaire. Je recommande vivement !

Fantastic chateau, location and hosts

It was a great pleasure to stay at the fantastic chateau of Jonathan and Mary-Jo. The chateau is absolutely fantastic, as is the garden, the great swimming pool, all the activities around the house (jeux the boules, darts, hikes, etc.) and the area. I want to highlight a few great things of this chateau. There are lot of shaded areas, so even if it is warm, you can comfortably sit outside without overheating. Moreover, there are hardly any flies or mosquitos, so eating outside is also a pleasure. Finally, Jonathan and Mary-Jo are two of the most wonderful people that you have the chance to meet. It was very great to stay at their place and get to know them.

The perfect spot for families

Chateau Floran felt like a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived we couldn't feel more in the south of France. The castle itself is fantastic. Postcard perfect, but comfortable (a very well equipped kitchen, insect reppellent in every room, ...). The surroundings made it a small paradise for us and the children. We used the pool every day, ate outside in the shadow of the castle and made little walks on the terrain. What can I say more? We'll come back for sure.

Un super séjour familial au château Floran

Un séjour très agréable dans une propriété superbement restaurée et qui invite à en savoir davantage sur l'histoire du lieu. Jonathan et Mary-Jo nous ont accueilli de manière vraiment appréciée par toute la famille. Nous étions (en moyenne, au gré des passages) 8 adultes, 2 ado (15 ans et 11 ans) et un bébé de 15 jours, pour qui c'était ses premières vacances ! La maison reste fraîche même par grandes chaleurs, est très bien agencée, la cuisine avec tout ce qu'il faut (2 frigos, four, micro-onde, lave-vaisselle, lave-linge...), les chambres spacieuses (et nombreuses !), chacune décorée avec goût, la cuisine d'extérieur un atout génial! La grande piscine a été bienvenue et tout le monde y a bien ri! Les arbres de la propriété sont superbes, le parc joli et avec le cours d'eau qui le longe invite à se détendre... De vraies, bonnes vacances ! Un grand merci à nos hôtes, présents et discrets, de nous avoir permis un si bon séjour dans ce château.

Très bon séjour !

Une superbe semaine passée dans cette propriété, avec une très belle piscine, à température ambiante. Les gérants sont très gentils et accueillants, et surtout très réceptifs aux petits problèmes. Les randonnées dans les alentours sont très plaisantes, les paysages très beaux, un vrai changement d'air qui fait du bien. Je recommande +++.

Très bien situé avec rivière au pied du jardin, le château offre tout le confort souhaité. Le coin barbecue avec réfrigérateur et point d’eau est très agréable et fonctionnel.

This is really a 5 start house ***** The location is private and peaceful, the house itself unique. Pool is great and big, so is the garden. The owners are really fantastic people, we had a problem with the pool. As soon as we mentioned it they send a friend to help an sort it out. When he could not fix the problem the owner himself interrupted his holiday and came over from Dubai to really solve the problem. We are renting vacation houses for many years now and i have never seen this great service. The house is equipped with enough freezers, fridges, plates, cutlery, etc. to hold 12 people.It has enough bathrooms and we never did run out of hot water ever. If i have to mention a down side, the WiFi coverage could be better but the walls are 1m thick so maybe it is technical not possible there. But this is really the first 5 star house we ever stayed in, and if i could, i would give to Mary Jo and here husband 10 stars :-) ********** Thank you both for the wonderful time my friends and my family had in Latoue.
