We arrived after dark and it was difficult to see where to enter the property as lighting is poor in the parking area and surrounding area, and there was a large group of people hanging out in the parking lot near one of the side/back doorways on our way in that made me feel uneasy. The lobby itself was nice, which told me that it had been a nice property. The front desk attendant was nice. However, when I noticed a sign stating that they would not reserve to local guests within 20 miles, I was told that it was to limit criminal behavior - which is a good thing, but ultimately didn't help my sense of unease. When we went to our entrance door which was not well lit, we entered into a stairwell that smelled overwhelmingly of sweat and marijuana. From there a door took us to our hallway which also smelled of marijuana. The carpeting appeared old and was gushy when walking on it. When we made it to our room, thankfully the smell of marijuana was not there. The room was large and seemed clean. The carpet was again old, but appeared better than in the hallway. The walls and some fixtures in the bathroom/mirror area need to be repaired. It appears as if someone has attempted to paint areas where maybe there was some damage of some kind, but it looked off. If it had not been so late at night and I had not prepaid for the room, I would have found a different place to stay because I just was not comfortable.
