We love our beach cottage and know you will, too. "Sounds Good" is a custom-built 3,320 sq. ft. three-level home loaded with great amenities. Our cottage has three master suites because privacy matters, a private pool and hot tub, and a well-equipped kitchen with a fully stocked guest pantry. There is a sports lounge on the ground level with a wet bar, billiards, and a large flat-screen TV for watching your favorite movies or for quality gaming. All our TVs stream via Roku and YouTube TV. Sounds Good is our second home—a place we return to often and miss dearly when we're away. That's why we open our cottage to guests for just five weeks each year.
One important note: although Sounds Good is in Duck, we are passionate about the wild Banker horses in Corolla, just 8 miles north. When you stay with us, $50 from your week's rental is gladly donated to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund to help the wild Banker horses continue to thrive. Okay, back to cottage info...
Our five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath home is very clean, we only rent five weeks! We are committed to keeping this level of quality for our guests (and ourselves). We're committed to delivering an exceptional experience—because your vacation and your investment matter. In return, we expect every guest to treat our home with the same care and respect we do.
Sounds Good is a peaceful, laid-back place to vacation. We do not host parties and will not tolerate rowdy behavior; that's just not what we are about. What we are about is being readily available to you before and during your stay. We enjoy getting to know our guests and responding quickly to any need or question about the cottage or visiting the Outer Banks. Consider us your text-able concierge! We offer a well-stocked guest pantry; details are further down in our description. We do not offer linens or towels, so please bring your own, or they can be easily rented from a company right down the street and conveniently delivered to the cottage. We can provide that information to you if needed.
Sounds Good is in one of Duck's most charming communities, Carolina Dunes, and is near the ocean, only one walkable block to the beach access, and the Currituck Sound is just 50 yards away from the front door. Enjoy the Sound and sunset views from the front balcony.
You'll be near all the things that make for a perfect family vacation: whether it's strolling along the Sound's walking trail, directly in front of the cottage, or wandering through the waterfront front shops (1.8 miles south - a walk or bike ride away), or dining at one of the many nearby restaurants, or visiting the Duck town park for an evening concert, you won't have to travel far or necessarily by car.
Back at the cottage, relax on one of the spacious decks or enjoy a good book under the second-floor covered deck, or chill in the hammock swing. The fenced backyard offers mature live oaks and is extremely private. Cool off in the backyard pool or go kayaking using our two kayaks. Launching the kayaks from the community dock is just a block and a half south. We've got the gear: wheel dollies, paddles, and life vests.
Game night is always fun, and our home has plenty of board game choices. Downstairs, the sports lounge has two TVs, one at the wet bar and the main flat-screen TV. There's an apartment-size dishwasher, microwave, full-size stainless refrigerator, and a high-quality 9' pool table.
If you're looking for location, fun, relaxation, and comfort, Sounds Good has it all because it's not a busy rental; it's our home!
Guest Pantry:
Your car is probably packed to the gills, which is exactly why we maintain a generous, well‑stocked guest pantry—to save you time, money, and stress. You'll find toilet paper, paper plates, paper towels, dishwashing detergent and liquid, sponges, Folgers coffee and filters, a full spice rack, general condiments, Solo cups, laundry detergent, cooking oils, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, plastic wrap, pump hand soap, and more.
Supplies are kept plentiful and replenished regularly—either through Amazon drop‑ship directly to the cottage or by Tom, who often drives items down mid‑season. It's not a perfect science, but there's always a lot here for you.
Our goal is for you to walk into a home that feels lived‑in and thoughtfully stocked—our home—not a sterile, bare‑bones rental.
House Gear: Two beach bikes, six beach chairs, various floats, two beach umbrellas, DVDs, books, a high-chair, crib, booster chair, changing table, pack n' play, all expected deck furniture, hammock swing, gas grill, Blackstone griddle, and beach buggy to cart your gear to the beach, which is only a 5-minute walk.
Enjoy your vacation wherever you stay, but we hope it will be with us!
Cheers!
Tom & Kelly
