We had the best experience during our stay at Honua Kai, and this has got to be one of the BEST 2 bedroom units in the entire resort. Plenty of room for our family of 5. Beds were comfortable. Appliances in the kitchen were top notch (All Clad pans, Vitamix blender). The only problems were the ice maker in the fridge, which didn’t produce enough ice, and the living room fan motor was broken on our arrival. We contacted property management about the fan, and the next day they had someone come to look at it, but unfortunately they had to order a replacement part, so it didn’t get fixed during our stay. The ice maker simply wasn’t making enough ice, but there is a complimentary ice machine down in the parking garage, so we would go down there with a pitcher to fill up the bin for the day. The room also had boogie boards, beach chairs, a Yeti cooler, a pack n’ play, and a chair with tray table for our infant.
The star of the show was the extra large wrap around lanai. We didn’t get to use it as much as we would have liked due to the windy weather during our stay, but it’s a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the view while you eat or sip your Hawaiian coffee!
The resort itself is phenomenal. Great swimming pools with a fun water slide area for the kids. We found that we had to reserve lounge chairs first thing in the morning if we wanted enough for our family (8 of us in all). They only allow you to save chairs after 8am, and you can only leave your belongings for an hour. There were also cabanas to rent for the day. We rented one one day, and while it was nice to have seating and guaranteed shade, it was pretty overpriced.
The Aina market was nice for lattes and smoothies, and having Duke’s on site was also very convenient. Due to limited seating, you could order food and drinks from the pool servers, or you could order food to go from the counter to take to your room.
We had a wonderful stay at Honua Kai, and we can’t wait to return some day!
