The Whaler Resort Kaanapali Beach
"Great location and friendly staff. It’s very close to Whalers Village, with Safeway less than a 10-minute drive away if you need groceries. However, the advertised “ocean view” was misleading. Our room had more of a partial ocean view. The photos may have been taken from a certain angle to make it look like a full ocean view, but that wasn’t the case in reality. The garbage policy was also disappointing. Garbage is only collected on the 4th day, and requesting collection earlier comes with an additional fee. Guests are also asked to take out their own garbage before checkout, which feels unreasonable for a resort. I understand it helps with cleanup, but when you’re on vacation, you want to relax, not do the chores you normally do at home. We stayed at Aston Kaanapali Shores on our first Maui trip, which has a similar vacation-ownership model, and I don’t remember having these kinds of requests from the property. Great location overall, but these would make me reconsider staying here again."
