Pros-Clean room with comfortable bed, nice bathroom and excellent shower. Location is also good with a nice breakfast. The bellboy was especially helpful and courteous to us especially when we had a problem. Cons- the room was too small and the window was on the hallway side. Also their credit card machine was broken so we had to pay cash. It would have been nice to notify their guests before checking out so they can be prepared to have the cash.

Location very walkable

The location is right in the middle of everything. It was easy to walk to Giang Cafe, Beer Street, the lake, and everything else in Old Quarter. The staff was caring and kind. The breakfast was alright too.

Not like the photos. Very run down. My room was very mouldy and smelly. Only cold water from the shower. Breakfast was disappointing. My numerous emails and messages about being picked up from the airport were ignored. Location was excellent though.

Excellent place to stay!

Very convenient location to immerse yourself in the Vietnamese culture, food and nightlife. The staff were extremely accommodating - willing to help with any task, which made our stay very easy and comfortable! Given the cost, kindness of staff and amenities, it is definitely well worth what you pay.

Would recommend Feels like being in a royal palace. Reception staff is very friendly and helpful, room was clean, big and with very nice design. Buffet breakfast on 6th floor is overlooking the houses around the area and food was good - freshly made omelette available. It was always good to come in to peaceful & cool room from “messy” streets.

Lovely Hotel in Old Quarter, Hanoi

I was pleasantly surprised with Hotel Viola. The staff service was excellent. They took care of every small request with a smile and very promptly. The hotel is located very close to the airport bus No. 86 stop. It is close to the Hoan Kien Lake, Hang Da Market and many of the attractions. Plenty of food choices in the vicinity. It is close to the night market which is there from Friday to Sunday. The breakfast is good as well. The captains are so friendly and help make sure you have everything you need. The staff ensures your safety and comfort. I was warned not to carry out my hand bag as the night markets were on and the moon cake festival celebrations. The lake area was very crowded. They even helped carry my bag and walked me to the bus stop. I am very happy i choose this hotel as it is value for money, clean, safe and excellent service.

Sold our room to someone else

We booked far in advance for New Year's Eve. When we arrived shortly before midnight we were told there was an issue with the room but when I asked to see the room and they would not show me. They made us stay in a unopened unfinished hostel through the back alley around the corner. The room wasn't even finished being renovated. When I looked it up online I saw that they over sole the hotel earlier that day for new years at a higher rate and basically kicked us out. I understand oversold hotels happens sometimes but they put us in a room that was still being renovated at that time of night with no other options was a nightmare.

Can’t recommend

Stayed at this hotel for one night and was very glad it was only one night. When we arrived at the hotel at 10 pm they told us the air conditioning unit in the room was broken and they needed to put us in their “sister” hotel down a narrow alley off a side door of the hotel. The “sister” hotel was called the Christina and had been newly renovated they said. Our room smelled strongly of fresh paint and had no furniture or a closet, just the bed. The heating/air conditioning unit did work, fortunately, but the bed was hard as a rock. The best part of the stay was breakfast at the Viola Royal which was more than adequate with eggs to order, an assortment of breads, fruit (albeit a little limited), and coffee or tea. There was no juice to speak of. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. I can not speak badly of the service. However, the facilities leave something to be desired. With that said, our price per night was only $24 so, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. That would certainly be true in this case. I can’t really recommend this hotel unless you need a cheap place to stay with an adequate breakfast and don’t plan to stay for more than a night or two at the most.

Viola hotel is a very nice, clean, and convinient. It's close to every where every in old quarter. The rooms are very fancy and comfortable. Staff are very helpful and always ready to help. We really enjoyed our stay.
