Love the hotel - only issue was check-in was late. We arrived a bit early (3:40 - didn’t expect to get in early though) and the lady at the front desk said she would call housekeeping and make our room a priority since we already arrived, and would give us a call when our room was ready. Check-in time (4:00) passed and no call, so we went back up to check. We ended up waiting with a few other people who had to wait past check-in time for their rooms to be ready.

I recently stayed here with my partner for our 5th anniversary, and was hoping this hotel would make it an exceptional experience. While the hotel and room itself was lovely, overall very clean, the amenities were a complete disappointment. We didn’t have running water for the first night. when we called the front desk they simply said it was maintenance and should be back on in a couple minutes. 40 minutes passed and still no water so I went down to the lobby, and they said it should be back on in 30 minutes and gave us a couple bottles of water, no apologies for the inconvenience. Almost 3 more hours pass and still no water, by that point we just went to bed. Next morning, water is running, but it’s yellow and smells bad, assuming it has sediment left in the water, so even though the water was back on, it was unusable. Finally, as we were checking out, the clerk at the desk was extremely short with us and didn’t bother to ask us about our stay. If you’re paying decent money for a hotel, you should at the very least have running water. My partner then reached out on the hotel website and received no response. If you’re looking for a hotel with a clean bed, nice room, unusable or no water, and insensitive staff, this will be a great stay for you.

Best Hotel Downtown Halifax

Sutton Place is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel is clean and private. We stay at a lot of hotels and this one is definitely one of the best ones that downtown Halifax has to offer. Just a sidenote - when parking on site, you’re not permitted to have studs on your tires as they damage the floor in the underground parking. Just something we wish we would have known ahead of time. Again, the staff was extremely accommodating.
