The location was the best part. Right down town and only a few minute walk to the boardwalk. Parking was off site and a bit of a hike. The rooms are very outdated and have a musty smell. The pool was very cold and the sauna never worked.

Great location and staff were amazing and accommodating! We arrived early and instead of having us just store our bags they checked to see if a room was ready for us, which it was and we got settled in early! The reasons for my low review though are based on the cleanliness of the rooms and the general upkeep of the property. We had a two bed room and one of the bed’s sheets were dirty (wine or blood-couldn’t determine), the curtains and balance were broken so the room always had light coming in, the pool water was cloudy, and the over all upkeep except for the lobby was not great. Also, I confirmed via the notice posted on the back of our guest room door that the check out time was at 12 but got a knock on the door from guest services before 12 telling us check out was at 11. They photographed the error in the notice and let us stay until 1 pm, again proving to be accommodating staff. I’d stay again - the older style and decor of the hotel was charming - but they need to put some money into upkeep/maintenance and training of cleaning staff.

This property was over priced, nonaccessible, and outdated. Pool water was dirty , sauna wasn't working , and our view was of an unusable courtyard half obscured by a partial roof .Downtown Halifax was an adventure in every direction, and the pedway was outstanding but this hotel was a disapointment. BE AWARE Using epedia for our booking it was suppose to be $380 which was over priced to begin with but when we arrived we were told it was $480 and another $30 for parking 10 minutes away on foot,(my wife and I are disabled) and had no way to make alternative plans for my family at this point. Would never visit those hotel again.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Lobby and restaurant area was bright, clean and updated. Location is perfect for accessing much of the city’s attractions, all within walking distance. Our room on the first floor was surprisingly outdated and in desperate need of a deep clean. It was comfortable enough and we would not complain as the price was more than reasonable.

Although I’m not able to walk, this hotel is close to the waterfront and many shops and restaurants. Parking is more difficult but did not affect my stay. I believe there is a parking garage near by. Check in and out was super fast, the room was clean and had everything I needed!

The Barrington Hotel was in a good location in Halifax. It was a quick walk to the waterfront and all that area had to offer: great restaurants, beautiful harbor etc. Our only complaint was the parking situation. We had to unload our car in front of the hotel and then park across the street in a random garage. In the morning we brought everything down to the lobby and I went to get the car and I had a hard time getting back to the front of the hotel, facing in the right direction so we could load everthing into the car at once That was our only complaint. We were only there for 1 night.
