Gulf Shores

Relaxing and nice location! Having the lagoon close by and beach just across the street worked well! Dog friendly is definitely a plus. The space was perfect ! My family each had their own room. The pool was nice & cool despite the summer heat ! Thank you for a wonderful stay 😀

We give it a 10/10!

We enjoyed our stay at west side cottages. The rental was clean and met our needs. It looked just like the photos. We were happy the unit was dog friendly, however Gulf Shores and Orange Beach do not allow dogs on the beaches at any time which was a major let down. We still were able to walk them, take them to a local dog park that had water for them to play in. The unit had lots of board games, books, and smart tv with streaming apps. The area of gulf shores has some issues with internet, so the tv streaming apps sometimes delayed, but again.. it’s an issue with the gulf shores area, not the specific unit. We would definitely stay at this unit again, but there were a couple of things we’d alert future guests about. The front door is extremely difficult to lock and unlock, it was very frustrating every time we left the unit. This unit doesn’t allow guests to use their beach chairs so you will need to bring your own, or rent some. The indoor staircase up to the top floor slants downward which was a major tripping hazard so I wouldn’t recommend this unit to any guests who may have accessibility issues. There is no ice maker at this unit, so you will need to get ice (there is a container for ice in the freezer). As mentioned, we would stay here again because it was clean, communication was great, and the check in and check out process was very easy. Everything about this stay was easy (outside of the front door issue), so as a first timer with VRBO, I am happy with our vacation

Great house, poor management.

I first want to start off by saying if you plan to bring your dogs, book your stay through ab&b because there’s no pet fee and a hidden one through VRBO. The house was great and well-kept, easy walk to the beach which made beach visits very convenient. There are 4 full baths which made it quick to clean up after the beach/pool. It was also nice they had some board games and books for us to use. The front patio is completely enclosed so it was nice to relax out there with the dogs and not have to worry about them running off (also toddler friendly). It wasn’t an issue for us, but this house is not ideal for anyone who has a hard time going up or down stairs. During our stay the house was infested with fruit flies when we got there, and the management company suggested we look for the insecticide that was supposed to be in a drawer in the house, and to use apple cider vinegar to kill them. When I told them I didn’t have apple cider vinegar and there wasn’t any insecticide anywhere in the house, they responded that they don’t provide those things. We ended up just dealing with it for the full week unfortunately. Heads up that there are literally no spices left in the kitchen so we even had to purchase salt and pepper. The door deadbolt function is very weird and there were no directions on how to lock the front door. Luckily we found a previous review that explained it. You have to lift upward on the handle to close the deadbolt, then you can twist the knob that seems like it would actuate the deadbolt. All the knob does is prevent the handle from moving. The WiFi was extremely slow so be aware if you plan on doing anything important that requires a stable signal (work call etc…). Overall we enjoyed the house for our vacation and would stay there again if it’s available. We’ll just make sure to bring apple cider vinegar and book through the “other site” next time.

Yearly Beach Vacation

We loved staying at this property! It is a beautiful home and it was wonderful that it was dog friendly so that our furry family member was able to join us. Location is great also; it is located near a walking trail and pier and just a few minutes drive to town and multiple resturants. We will definately book again!!

Beautiful cottage

I loved this cottage. It was exactly as described in the listing. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because of a couple of issues. The biggest problem was when locking the door from the inside the handle needs to be slightly lifted. This information is not given and it took about 20 minutes between two phone calls before learning this. A sign near the door would be helpful. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, but if you want salt, pepper, cooking spray or anything needed for cooking, you need to bring it. Finally, it wasn’t a problem with the group we had, but there are many steps, both inside and out, which may be difficult for some. Otherwise, it was an awesome cottage! Many beach chairs and toys are provided and it’s the perfect place when traveling with a dog. I would absolutely stay again now that I am aware of the few issues I had.

Great house

We loved the house and neighborhood. It was modern and clean. The pool was a nice alternative when we had enough beach. The beach was less than a 10 minute walk away. The lagoon was beautiful to walk around in the evening too. I would highly recommend this house.

This house is beautiful and very well appointed. The location is between the lagoon and the beach so walking to either is convenient. You can fish or kayak in the lagoon. Nice pier and area to walk your dog. Also a fenced deck for the dog to hang outside. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return.

Everything was fine until someone from the company called to say we had a complaint about our dog. She said If they receive another we would have to leave, or we may want to board. I explain to the caller that the only time the dog was on the porch was when we was out there. I asked her several times if that was a problem being on the porch with us, she would not answer me. When she would bark we would put her inside. She started to say something about us being from Louisiana. Which had nothing to do with our dog. The pool was not cleaned daily, because the same wet paper towels were on the pool deck for 3 days. Could not take our 2 young grandkids in the pool since you could not see the bottom. Last, the house moves, when someone is coming up the stairs to the top floor the house moves.

First time to the beach

This was our nieces first time to the beach and they absolutely loved it!! House was amazing . It needed a rubber spatula and a crockpot but I called the property manager and asked if they had a crock pot and they said no so we brought ours. Great access to the beach . Pool was clean and amazing . House was just breathtaking . We will definately stay here again. One of our favorite vacations !! Thank you

Family Friendly

This was the perfect getaway for our Midwest families to meet (St. Louis & Indianapolis). The house was great: plenty of space to move around, very clean and decorated perfectly. Loved that it was just a short walk to / from the beach, the walking path was nice, and and having the pool right behind us was perfect. Most of all, we loved all the families there doing the same as us... we brought scooters for the kids to ride around, and they felt totally safe, and had a great time doing their excursions. The only complaint is we did not realize until the last day there is actually a trundle under the bunk beds... but that's on us, no fault of the owner. Overall we highly recommend and hope to be back!

Great Spot in Gulf Shores

We had a great break during Covid-19 in Gulf Shores. We rode over from New Orleans for a long weekend and were greatly impressed by the condo. The floor plan is perfect - great open room downstairs (2nd floor - you park underneath the unit) with a kitchen, full bathroom and washer and dryer. All three bedrooms are upstairs (3rd floor) and each has a private bathroom. We had a slight view of the bay and the pool was directly behind the unit. It was quite cold (in the lower 30s) during our stay so we didn't use the pool. Our favorite part was the location - easy access to the municipal piers and walking trail. We walked about 5 miles everymorning. We'd start on the beach and circle back on the walking trail. This place is a must. It was super clean and Vacasa (the management company) was super helpful. We will go back!
