A positive experience overall
Our extended family spent a week here in August. While we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the location to others, there were a few shortcomings which we will also cite.
Positives:
1) The house is large, modern, and provided ample space for those indoor days, and allowed each family to have some privacy
2) The beachfront is excellent. Nice and sandy, easy to walk out to the lake and enjoy a swim or play
3) The location offered a great deal of privacy. Not much traffic or noise
4) Enough lawn to have a small game of soccer or football
5) Amazing sunset and sunrise views, either from the dock or 1 of the 3 enclosed gazebos.
6) The owners were incredible to deal with. Very responsive and apologetic when issues arose.
Key shortcomings:
1) Water, water, water. While the lake was incredible, we did have 2 issues with house water during our stay. Day 1 the well ran dry, and despite effective recovery plans from the owners, I would not expect this to happen with a premium rental. We were less impressed with the Muskoka Rental company, who took a more laissez-faire attitude. And on our last day, the basement plumbing became clogged. Again, not the end of the world with multiple bathrooms to use, but a nuisance nonetheless.
2) The only other drawback is the lack of proximity to other activities or events (or even restaurants). MacTier is a small town with a Foodland and an LCBO. To do anything of note required a 25-minute + drive. Not a show-stopper, but just an FYI

One week stay
Owners were great to deal with. Cottage is perfect for large families. The location of the cottage is a bit noisy with trains/traffic. Otherwise waterfront is accessible and beautiful. Would recommend for large families.

All the bells and whistles!
Had a great time at this beautiful property! It has literally all the bells and whistles anyone could ask for in a vacation home. Water at the dock is very shallow but that was ok for us as we had 2 young grandchildren with us. Would definitely recommend!
Absolutely loved every single part of this property. The beach and water toys are excellent! All the little touches the owners put into this property is amazing and I really recommend staying here!

Perfect family getaway!
My family and I loved everything about this beautiful cottage! It was very spacious and clean. There were a ton of games to play inside and activities to do in our backyard. The cottage has kayaks and paddleboats which were used almost everyday. We will definitely be staying here again and recommending this cottage to our friends and family.

A good time was had by all! The Kilty Cottage is everything advertised and more.
The Kilty Cottage was just as described and perfect for our large group. Plenty of room to hang out together and enough space to spend some quiet alone time. I would recommend this cottage to any family having a multigenerational get together. The beds were comfortable and the whole house was well designed and cared for.
The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with all the basics.
The outdoors and lake were gorgeous. Lots of water toys - all put to good use by us. The photos are accurate but only hinted at the relaxing feeling you will come away with after some time spent in this beautiful location.

Beautiful property with all the amenities!!
We stayed for a weekend for a family reunion and loved it. The cottage has all the bells and whistles. We loved having lots of space to spread out inside and outside of the cottage.
Only downside was that there didn’t seem to be enough fridge space and the ice maker is very slow so bring your own if you want ice!
Mostly definitely would recommend this cottage for large family gatherings!!

A wonderful place for our family !
We spent a week here with our 2 sons,2 daughter-in-laws, and 4 grandchildren ( 4 yaars and younger) . Home was very well equipped and such a nice touch to be able to use basic provisions like sugar, flour, spices etc. Kitchen was very well equipped - couldn't ask for more. We loved our dinners in the screened gazebo. The children loved the beach, the shallow water, the bin of toys - especially the big Tonka trucks. We all enjoyed the paddleboat, kayaks and canoe. Having bedrooms on 3 floors meant that we could all spread out .Everything was spotlessly clean. The only thing that prevents me from giving this 5 stars is the fact that the train yard in MacTier is very close and you can hear trains blowing their whistle and cars shunting during the night ! Otherwise, it was perfect .
