Weekend Retreat

Weekend retreat with friends to step away from the city. The home is nicely laid out and comfortably fit 7. If we had 10, it would be tight. Great location for access to West Galveston bay. Home is on the canal, so bring your fishing poles. Bring your own kayaks and PFDs. Host is quick to respond.

Crabbing and Fishing Extravaganza

Our stay was epic as always on the west end of Galveston. We have been coming down for over 25 years and always enjoy the west end. Javier has a great Canal House situated close to the bay offering great fishing opportunities, amazing sunsets and close proximity to the beach. The crabbing was very good this year and the fishing was spotty but we did manage to catch a nice bunch of trout off of the dock. The house is exactly as the pictures show and Javier was always responsive with some minor questions we had about the house and how to turn on various lights etc...We will definitely be back again next year for our time honored tradition!

Wonderful Experience and Beautiful House

This house is perfect. Everything you need with the most extraordinary views/sunrise/sunsets! So peaceful here! Took my little nieces for our summer getaway. Got a golfcart and off we went! Fun, fun! Beach 2 minutes away...fishing/crabbing on the dock. Made breakfast and lunch there and kitchen is well stocked with anything you need. Very, very comfortable beds and good layout to enjoy with your family. 3 Bathrooms! I am definitely going back! Javier, the host, is so nice and very accommodating in everyway. I highly recommend this for your beach vacation!! Made some dear memories!!

Go to Place for Anyone

What a magical place this was for my family. We had our twins 9th birthday here. This home is beautiful inside and out. It has everything you need. The back balcony to the porch to the boat dock is set up perfectly. We caught some big fish. 2 family members took the kayake and had a great time. We love this place and are blessed to found such a special family vacay spot. The owners are great people. They answer quickly from check in through check out and have knowlege of the area. Fun in the Sun

This roomy bay home is decorated beautifully with interesting beach décor throughout. We are a family of three families and everyone was happy as everyone had their very own space. Some fun things: The two-man kayak and paddle boards were a hit with our two grandchildren—ages 13 and 14. My son-in-law and grandson had fun paddling the kayak out into the bay fishing. The views are wonderful, and the sunsets are glorious. We really loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine watching the boats glide by in the no-wake canal as they were coming in or going out to the bay. The bay views are both front and back of the home. The beach is a short sprint or drive . . . depending on the amount of beach toys you are carrying. Lots of folks rent golf carts and there is a rental place close by. There is a bait store in the neighborhood for the fishermen/women which saves a lot of driving time and the home’s underwater lights attract the fish for you. Can’t wait to go back!

5 O’clock Somewhere

This family trip has to rate as one our best. Javier was awesome to work with. We had questions prior to getting there and some while we were there and he was quick to answer and easy to communicate with. He is definitely 5 Stars. The house was amazing, very well maintained. Being able to watch the Sun rise from your deck having coffee, along with sitting on the porch with a cocktail watching the sun set into the ocean was spectacular. The house is a great place to relax and just enjoy life!! Javier you are truly a great host. Again, thank you very much.

Great House on the Bay

Our group really enjoyed our recent stay at "5 O'Clock Somewhere". The location on the canal opening up to the bay was beautiful. We had a blast fishing/crabbing and also enjoyed getting out on the water with kayaks and paddleboards. The house itself was well appointed, very clean and comfortable. Easy access to the beach just across the highway. Highly recommended.

On the Water!

This was the best location! Being just a 4 houses from the bay on the canal was amazing! We enjoyed the views and access to the bay. With a two minute golf cart ride to the beach, we had the best of both worlds. The green lights in the water were a highlight of fishing at night. We enjoyed our stay!

The home was amazing! Very clean, so much space for Everyone. We celebrated Mother's Day Weekend and had a blast even with the rain. A true vacation and the fishing was phenomenal, we all caught fish!

Texas Boys Outdoors Veteran Trip

We rented this property to take out some veteran guests on a bay fishing trip. The house was great! Everyone slept comfortably. Quick access to the bay was great and the VIEWS are fantastic!! The owner was a pleasure to work with and great about communication. Our only challenge was that we had to bring our boat down, so parking was tight.

Broken/tiring& inconvenient!!

The property & location was good. House clean. We had a long flight from Utah so we were so ready to relax & unwind. I got a message from Jorge mid flight that the house refrigerator was broken. The parts wasn’t going to arrive middle of our stay which was 7 days. He offered to bring small dorm refrigerator & use of owners refrigerator in the garage. We bought a big cooler & placed our sodas & water in on the veranda. It was so inconvenient & tiring going up & down the long stairs every time we need food. Then we found out that only 11/2 burner only works. The downstair shower & other water source was not working or connected like advertised except for a hose side of house. Again he offered to have repair man come over middle of our stay but we were not in the mood to have strangers working around the house during our stay so we declined. He did refund us $400 for all our troubles which we felt was insufficient. We feel the house advertised was not accurate for what you actually encounter when you stay at “5 o’clock somewhere” house. We have stayed at many many many houses in Galveston & honestly this was the worse. We are in the area every 4 to 6 months & this house disappoint. I hope he gets everything fixed before another guest experienced what we experienced because it was not pleasant. In a positive note fishing was great like he said around midnight to 3am. Caught a couple of used reds.

From the moment we booked the property to the time we checked out, our experience was exceptional. The Property Owner was very responsive and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome in his second home, even before we arrived. Fishing Fun!

We had a blast!! House was exactly as described, fantastic place if you enjoy fishing, right near the mouth of the main canal. Time was our only enemy. Fishing was excellent @ night, perfect location to catch as the high tide comes in. The location was surprisingly peaceful and quiet. About the only people we saw for 3 days were the occasional boaters passing by who were all super friendly people. The host, Javier, was terrific. I had several questions and he was all too nice and very fast responding. I really can't say anything negative except we didn't stay long enough.....I will be back soon!
