Hotel Trad is a good hotel if you are looking for something that is reasonable and reasonable walk to most of the sites. It is not near the train station but the bus stop is only a 3 minute walk. If I were to return to Fukuoka I would probably find a hotel that was closer to Hakata mall or Tenjin shopping district and closer to the train stations.

Apart from accommodation, I used this place to park my rental car as I intended to drive out of Fukuoka. Price at the time is ¥1500 per night (though has caveats), which gives me a piece of mind that the car is safely stored. Thanks!

The showers smelled of mold and the carpets were so dirty. The amenities like shampoo, hand soap etc… were almost empty. The breakfast was great though, it was a good benefit with the hotel. The parking behind the hotel was also great. The fact I could leave and come back as needed was also really great.

We specifically wanted a hotel that was a little more local in the Sumiyoshi area and not the main Hakata station area. It's only a 15min walk to Hakata station, but the Sumiyoshi area has various local eateries, bars, and a lovely Shrine to visit.
