Located on a gorgeous 32-acre property just 8 minutes from Franklin, The Cottage offers a serene waterfront haven. Take the canoe and kayak out on Great Pond. Enjoy alfresco meals on the deck, then gather around the firepit. This one bedroom vacation rental offers a genuine cabin feel with modern upgrades and all the comforts of home. If traveling with a larger group, consider also renting The Cabin -- located about a 10-minute walk away.

After fun-filled days, relax in the comfy living area and watch a new movie on the smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen has everything needed to create your favorite dishes. When it’s time to dine, the table seats four. The Cottage has a queen bed in the bedroom and a full-size futon in the living area. The bathroom is configured with a tub/shower combination. A twin bed can be found in the open loft area. The loft is accessed via a steep ladder, safety rails recently added.

The wraparound deck has incredible vistas of the surrounding woods and peekaboo lake views. Make use of the gas grill and enjoy an afternoon cookout. Enjoy starlit nights around the wood-burning firepit. This lakefront property includes the use of a canoe, kayak and paddleboard. The Cottage has a three-story layout with a ramp to the front door. Nestled on Great Pond, your vacation home offers wonderful seclusion, but is still only an 8-minute drive from Franklin and a 20-minute drive from Ellsworth. For an incredible day trip, pay a visit to Acadia National Park or Bar Harbor.

The cottage is a cabin by a lake. The cabin has electricity, a bathroom and a kitchen. Rustic but comfortable. We took the canoe around the lake. Location of the cabin is very quiet. The bathroom is on the main floor so middle of the night trip’s required steps. The bed was soft. That being said we both said we would stay again.

The bathroom had a strong urine odor the entire time we were there. I actually bought a large deodorizer to help control the smell. Maybe there is an issue with the wax seal, hairline crack in the toilet or a problem with the pipes. And because the place is small, the smell was noticeable in the living area as well. I called Vacasa about this and the only response was that the cleaners did not notice anything when they were there. If it weren't for this I would be giving a better review.

Our first time in Maine and picked a perfect place for our stay. The cabin has a real rustic feel with direct access to the pond. We had enjoyed canoeing, paddle boarding and fishing. It is a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Also, only 15 minutes from the best cheesecake in Maine, MoMo's in Ellsworth.We cannot say enough about Vacasa customer service. They addressed our request promptly and professionally.

Place was nice; location and outside of the property and the fact that it was on a pond/lake. It was quiet. Had a nice fire pit outside and the dock with the canoe and paddle board were nice. Outside great!Inside,,, not so much….. if you don’t cook or are not concerned about some of the cleanliness issues, then it would be fine. Negatives:….NO coffee maker as the listing said there would be. They had lots of coffee filters but no pot, only a Kuerig maker with no Kuerig pods. They said they would bring one but did not. We bought a pour-over the next time we went to town once we realized they weren’t bringing a pot. The rest of the kitchen supplies were probably from a garage sales, bad ones. ….the floors were dirty especially the rugs… they looked like they had never been washed, almost black in some spots. Rugs should be washed or replaced. I would not walk barefoot in the place. ….Could not use the washing machine since there was rust in the detergent dispenser. Didn’t want to ruin my clothes. ….No AC, which we knew, but the fans that were provided were really dirty, gross, but necessary since it was hot. Overall I would not come back unless they clean up the inside and provide just a few nice pans and a coffee maker. Outside was wonderful, inside not so much.

Unsafe Property

Please be careful booking this property. When we arrived at the rental our first night we were greeted with a strong gas smell throughout the house. There had been a gas leak prior to us arriving. We quickly contacted the host and emergency services. The fire department shut off the gas, cleared the house and instructed that we had a professional come out to evaluate the issue, mind you this was after traveling several hours to the property. The gas concentrations were very dangerous. One flip of the light switch and it could have caused an explosion. The owner assured us that they would have someone come out to house the next day. We never heard from them again. We spent the next several days attempting to cook all of our food on the outside grill. Much of the food we were planning to cook in the oven went bad as we were unable to cook in the kitchen. 3 weeks since our stay concluded and they are still giving us the runaround. I would caution anyone looking into the property if they are looking for a safe rental.

Lazy Lumberjack Cottage

it was a very peaceful area. The use of the canoe to paddle the pond was a bonus. I gave the cleanliness only 2 stars as it was obvious no one had been in prior to our arrival. There were hundreds of dead & live ants. Also piles of sawdust on counters. I mention this only because it needs serious pest control, the ant traps are helping but only slightly. Otherwise I give 4 stars for cleanliness! Strangely the gas stove gas supply was turned off behind the stove. This reads like nothing but complaints but we enjoyed our stay immensely & just feel for the sake of the cottage & business to bring attention to the ant problem.

Cozy cottage by the lake

We stayed for one night in this lovely, rustic cottage and wished we had more than one day to enjoy the amenities, which was a fantastic lakeside spot with a dock, fire pit, kayaks, and wrap around deck. The cottage was charming and cozy, with an unusual layout with a loft above the 2nd floor bedroom. The one minor glitch to the trip was having to call Vacasa repeatedly for the access code to the house, which we did not get until we are at the house.

NO HEAT

This would probably be fine in the summer, but should not be rented off season. Original listing had no menu of it being just a summer house/not having heat. Also did not realize it's being listed through a management company. Introductory email specifically said there was a wood stove and wood provided. No wood was there. I went to use the stove and it had a gas insert that i could not get working. I called the help number and the people in Oregon (yes, Oregon!) told me a series of lies and tried gaslighting me saying they told me stove didn't work. The ad on vrbo was magically rewritten less than 24 hours after my first complaint. It was down to 47 the next morning. I slept in my truck 2 nights due to the cold. It was never comfortable in there. Vacasa has totally ignored me. Vrbo has also not been much help. Complaints are being filed with BBB and my credit card. In addition, WI-FI is pretty much non existent, bring your own paper products--including TP, and there's barely enough hot water for one shower.

Don't ever stay with Vacasa

Managed by Vacasa, horrible customer service - they aren't located in the same country and they told me "someone will be out shortly to serve you" (obviously no one came). Outdated and changed ads for the cabin. The cabin ad stated clearly that there was a *WOOD STOVE* in the "winter months". I booked the cabin because of this feature. I received THREE acknowledgment and preparation emails from Vacasa stating that the wood stove would be available and that WOOD WOULD BE PROVIDED IN THE FOYER. I show up and there is no wood stove, there is a gas stove - and it's turned off for the season. They have since changed their ad but it still says "wood stove"... it's a gas stove with fake wood... come on people... 52 degrees in the Cabin when I arrived during daylight hours. Blatant laziness that the stove wasn't turned on for that low of temps. Does there have to be a risk of freezing to death before the heat is turned on? Oh and the "dock" was totally destroyed. Smoke Detectors kept beeping due to low battery. Wifi wasn't fast enough for the TV to simply load a single app. The mattress is spring and probably 50 years old. You're better off sleeping in a tent.

A peaceful getaway in the woods.

I loved how quiet and isolated this property was! You could hear a pin drop when standing outside. There weren't even any birds to wake you in the morning. The wife and I stayed there for our anniversary week and enjoyed every minute of it. Week cooked in the nice little kitchen and grilled outside once. On the one day it rained, we stayed in all day and streamed movies or watched ones from their small DVD collection. The furniture was very comfortable. Even I at 6'4" slept fine in the smaller full size bed. Would definitely stay again!

Good Place to stay. Very nice to relax and fish. Caught crappie Small Mouth Bass Muskie. I would go back again. Note this/ If you go away from the bigger towns the food gets better and cheaper. Thanks so much for having us.

Great cabin for a quiet getaway

The cabin is pretty small but for just me, it was great. The stairs to the 2nd floor bedroom have no railing, so I opted for the futon on the main floor and with an air mattress it was very comfortable. The provided heater was enough to keep the cabin heated so I never had to used the wood burning stove. Outlets are scarce so take an extension cord or 2. Overall, I loved the little cabin and I'd stay again!
