Our stay was so incredibly nice! The location was perfect! We were right on the river and you could hear the river from the master bedroom (it was so nice to sleep to that sound!). We also loved how you felt so in nature, but only 6 minutes from town so it was super convenient! The owners put so much thought into little details that made us feel welcome immediately (like a little smores kit and Halloween candy (since we showed up right after Halloween so it was super cute)). All of the decorations were so homey and the layout of the house was great! Everything was incredible and definitely made our vacation the best!

This property is truly a gem tucked in the woods yet close to everything! My family traveled to Ellijay for a wedding at Summit Farm Weddings (highly recommend this six-generation family-owned venue), and this home made our weekend even more special.My elderly parents loved their main-floor bedroom with a private bath, and there’s another bedroom on the same level for easy access. The upstairs suite was massive — perfect for my husband, myself, and our toddler granddaughter, who was in hog heaven with all the toys!The house was beautifully appointed, spotless, and extremely comfortable — the owners truly thought of everything. The coffee station was wonderful, with plenty of oversized mugs and everything you could possibly need to make the perfect individual cup of joe.What the property description doesn’t fully capture is just how spectacular the setting is: right on the river, surrounded by trees, peaceful, and cozy.Kim was a fantastic host, communicating promptly and kindly before check-in. We would absolutely recommend this property and would love to stay here again!

Great Place. Great Owners.

I cannot say enough good things about this location and the property owners. The attention to detail was astounding. The home was spacious and located in a quiet spot away from traffic noise. You could want for nothing. Kimberly was extremely gracious when we arrived earlier than planned and allowed us entry (very unusual and we would have understood had she declined).I would give six stars if I could. And would highly recommend this property.

The house was great, close to shops, dining and entertainment. The house is on flat land with plenty of parking spaces. The hot tub and the back porch was perfect. Spent every morning and evening out there listening to the river. Would recommend to anyone staying in Elijay.

Relaxing weekend get away

We very much enjoyed the get away. The cabin was nicely supplied with toiletries, coffee bar, little snacks, s’more treats, and more. The only draw back was the “hot tub” wasn’t hot. It felt like a lukewarm bath. That was disappointing.

2nd Timers

We love this house. The layout is great for 3 generations. The river, the fire pit, the quiet are perfect. Gas logs, good internet, great TV-if you even need it 😁. Turkeys, deer, and a bear-oh my! Walked up on the bear but I think he didn’t see us as a threat and ran off by the river. Highly recommend for a relaxing convenient location to Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, hiking, etc.

Beautiful relaxing retreat!

The Cartecay River Retreat is an amazing spot! Right on the river, you can sit on the back deck and watch the serene waters flow. We love the screened in porch, so that you can enjoy the outdoors without bugs. The home is clean and welcoming, from the snacks and s’mores kit to the coffee bar and games. It is easy to get to the home without needing 4-wheel drive. The property is flat and perfect for elderly travelers. We took my two elderly, handicapped parents, and they were able to get around great! There is easy access through the screened in porch with just a small step up into the house. There are two bedrooms on the main floor and one has a walk-in shower and handheld shower head, which made it easy for my parents to use. The communication with the property owner was quick and efficient. We highly recommend this property!

Clean & Cozy!

We had a great long October weekend. Everything was perfect, welcome snacks, game/toys for all ages and we loved the clean hot tub. Hope to come back and play in the river again when its warmer!

Fun family time!

We had a nice time at the house on the river! It was beautiful and listening to the running river from the porches was wonderful! The kids really enjoyed the game room and hot tub. We all enjoyed the coffee bar! The river was running pretty fast, so our kiddos had to be careful in the river right at the house, but I’m sure it’s not always that swift/full. There are neighboring houses pretty close by, but we didn’t see anyone out and about while we were there. Ellijay has a fun downtown area that we enjoyed, also. Overall a very nice experience! We would enjoy staying here again if we return to the area!

Comfortable home in relaxing setting

Beautiful setting; warm welcoming atmosphere

Walking into the house, the first thing you see are the woods across the river and the river itself through the windows that run across the back of the house. There wasn't a thing that we needed except to bring our own food. We felt like we were being welcomed into a relatives home. While we did a little bit of hiking, our main goal was to just relax enjoy the view and the sounds of the water flowing down the river and over the rocks. Mission certainly accomplished and then some. Highly recommend this house for rental.

Family Get-a-Way

The house is great! Location is beautiful. The house was clean and everything you might need was there! We loved the back porch, the fire pit, the river! A great place to stroll around. Thankfully we did not see any bears! We enjoyed a float down the river. The hot tub was clean and ready to use. The coffee bar had everything you might need. We will definitely be back!

A gem!

This was such a wonderful home for our long weekend away! We wanted a place where my husband and son could fish from the backyard, and this fit the bill. The rest of us loved the views of the river. It was so relaxing to see the running water from our bedroom, the living room, or the porches! It was a very comfortable set up. We had my two year old son, me and my husband, and our parents (including one with mobility issues). Everyone had their own comfortable space as well as comfortable gathering spots for us to be together! The hosts have put in a lot of attention to small details that make a difference. Having a toddler in tow, it was so nice that they had a pack n play, high chair, and even toddler/kid utensils and dinnerware stocked! The coffee bar was enjoyed every morning, and they have everything we needed for cooking our meals at home, plus lots of extra treats like wine and a snack basket. They even had extra ponytail ties in the master bath--so thoughtful! The location was convenient to town, and our crew enjoyed the hot tub and the tubes they provided. We drove upstream a couple miles, put our tubes in at the Cartecay Canoe Launch, and were able to float right to our backyard and get out there! We would definitely rent this home again and recommend it to others.

Favorite cabin

The cabin was exactly as described and seen in the photos. It was clean and spacious. With two families, the double master bedrooms/bathrooms were wonderful. The kitchen had more than we thought we needed including an Instant Pot! We loved the coffee bar with the special mugs. It was such a fun touch! My boys had a blast playing in and floating down the river everyday. My husband fished, while I enjoyed listening to the river flowing by. Our families enjoyed the firepit. We traveled to Tumbling Waters Trail and Amicalola State Park. Downtown Ellijay has many good restaurants and cute stores to shop in.

Awesome cabin in the river

We stayed here for our family mountain vacation! The house was awesome with easy access to the river for swimming and tubing fun. House has everything you could need and our favorite, fully stocked coffee bar! Sitting on the porch with coffee and listening to the sounds of the river! We would definitely stay here again! Great house and location!
