Fantastic Property - exactly as advertised. We've visited Melrose multiple times and this was the nicest rental by far. Clean, updated and centrally located, with outstanding communication from the property owner. We highly recommend and we will return!

Ringer Family vacay

We love Daufuskie Island and this house was the perfect location to enjoy everything. Loved the convenience of the beach and of course the gator pond. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island! Can’t wait to go back!

Angel Oak Cottage

On arrival we noticed a large patch in the screen door. The next mishap was a large puddle of water on the counter and floor from the ice maker. Okay. Ugly patch in screen door and no ice maker. Rest of this home was decorated beautifully and was very clean. Now comes property management staff. Can’t praise them enough!! Particularly Chrissy who answered my texts at all hours. This group is the best. Anything you request, they are on it. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

Beautiful home with gorgeous views

The house was spotless and so comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, the furniture and beds comfortable, and the view of the ocean and Hilton Head Island is priceless! Also, there are plenty of beach chairs and it’s just a moment’s walk to the beach.

Precious Memories for a Lifetime

We cannot wait to book this place again. It’s so perfect. The view & beach is sheer Heaven. The home has plentiful space for all of our guests and bathrooms galore. Wonderful porches and the backyard it’s absolutely lovely. !! Soooo good!!

Hidden treasure

Daufuskie is a hidden gem and this property is a perfect place to stay for a large group. Everyone had their own room and bath and the central room made it easy for everyone to relax. Having the beach and pool nearby was perfect for keeping everyone entertained. Recommend renting extra golf carts since there was always small groups going out to explore the island. Highly recommend this place.

What an Adventure!

We were two families traveling with our teens from Oklahoma. What an Adventure! Deborah and her team were very helpful. I have always been intrigued by the mystery of Daufuskie and it did not fail to meet my cravings for adventure and history! Although getting to the island and then to the house seemed daunting, we made it just fine. We had to rearrange a few things because of a late flight but the people at BullRiver Marina were fantastic! They scheduled a later than normal ferry to accommodate us. Once we arrived, we had a van shuttle us to the home. It was amazing! Each beautifully appointed room had its own bathroom. The furniture was lovely. If you like firm beds, then you will be happy. The views were amazing. Although the ocean at low tide was murky and filled with very dark silt, we enjoyed the waters in the evening. During the day, we explored the island. Daufuskie has a somewhat haunted feeling as you cruise about under the most amazing live oak trees dripping with Spanish Moss. We could not get enough. Hidden among the trees were little “ghosts” of years past -tabby ruins, the old hotel, cemeteries, old fishing boats. It made the island so intriguing, nostalgic, and romantic. There is a great little store at the county dock and they also make pizzas and nice sandwiches. We also ate at Lucy Belle’s. There were several hiccups in food delivery to the island restaurants which limited the menus each day - a quirk of island life. No worries though! We had a fantastic time. Dinner options are limited but we enjoyed seeing the same people at the Crab restaurant at Freeport Marina each night. We came for the sunsets and mahi-mahi fish fingers. We advise that you pick up a historic trails map and explore each stop. As a history teacher, I could not get enough! We visited the light house museum, the rum distillery, each restaurant, the beach club pool -staff was so friendly! We also booked a fishing excursion with May River. Our guide was really great. The house itself was well appointed. The beach chairs were great. Because there are no real stores on the island, be sure to bring your own boogie boards, skim boards, Etc. Everything was perfect! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing house and overall experience with us. We will never forget our time on Daufuskie.

Can't wait to go back!

We absolutely loved this place! 9 friends sharing this gorgeous place for a few days and we all agreed that we want to go back. It doesn't get any better than the beach in the backyard. The way the house was set up was perfect for everyone to have a little privacy, but meet in the middle to hang out. All bedrooms are in each of the 4 corners of the house, and the kitchen and living room in the center of the home. Everything is pretty much brand new. The beds are firm but super comfortable. Even the couch was comfortable to sleep on! The property manager was quick to respond to answering questions during our stay, and even allowed us to check in a bit early because the ferry arrived earlier than check in. I can't think of another thing that this house needed except possibly a chef?!! Haha. Thank you for a wonderful first visit to the island!

Beautiful House - Bummer Beds

We enjoyed a mother / daughter vacation at the home plus two of their friends joined us for part of the stay, so five adults total for most of the trip. We all loved Daufuskie Island & enjoyed a self-tour of the whole island via our 6-person golf cart (a small upcharge since the home comes with a free 4-person cart). As sad as the history is, being able to tour historic sites plus the rawness of some parts of the island was special. As far as the home, it's beautiful. Designed to take advantage of the view was perfection & we thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk a few steps to the beach & back. The open living space was lovely & comfortable. We cooked meals without issue & ate either around the table or, with appetizers, the huge island. We all appreciated the privacy of our own bedrooms & the ensuite bathrooms. The only disappointment were the beds themselves. All but one of us agreed that the beds were too firm & all agreed that the pillows were the worst. Surprised that the designers (?) didn't choose either softer pillows or at least had alternative pillows available in a closet. The beds look amazing at first glance, but they definitely lose points when sleeping in them. Other than the comfort level of the beds & pillows (which is pretty important the older I become :-), we all wished we could have stayed longer. I'm definitely considering another visit but probably another home or area in the island. Tips: 1. If five or more, consider taking a roundtrip private boat charter instead of the ferry as the extra cost might be worth it to you. The service, the ease of parking in Hilton Head and then getting to the island, plus the ability to take more bags on board (within reason of course) - all made for a wonderful, stress-free beginning to our vacation. As a bonus the captain was kind enough to take his time during our trip to the island to look for dolphins. We didn't, unfortunately, but we did see the beauty of Eagle Island. And saw dolphins throughout the trip anyway! 2. If you enjoy lots of ice for your cocktails or drinks, I'd recommend you take a bag of ice with you in a cooler. The freezer didn't make ice fast enough so we were always having to ration out the ice cubes. 3. The island is a gem for relaxation but we had to be very careful during our romps in the water as there were tons of jellyfish lying around on the beach. It was cooler when we were there so not much of an issue for us. Hope you enjoy DI as much as we did!

Wonderful house and island!

We truly loved our stay and wouldn’t change anything! The house is wonderful especially for multiple couples. Everyone has their own space but also big open spaces for everyone to gather as well! Super clean and comfortable beds! I would reccomend to everyone! Thank you for making this a wonderful experience!
