Doors were broken, locks broken,crackheads and hookers all over at night, a domestic disturbance occured above us and had to call the police. Cockroaches everywhere, unsafe place, shower curtain rod was not secure and could not shut curtain. bathroom door would not shut. The place should be tore down.

I wish I could give zero stars. My girlfriend and I ended up at the Econo Lodge North in Charleston after a booking mix-up, and it was a huge mistake. The moment we pulled in, we felt unsafe. There were police cars parked out front, people paying cash for multiple rooms, and suspicious activity around the lobby that made the whole place feel sketchy. The front desk was behind thick glass, and the staff even admitted the first room they assigned us wasn’t in a “safe area,” which should have been a huge red flag. The room we were finally given was absolutely disgusting. It reeked of smoke and mildew, with a cheap cologne smell clearly sprayed to cover it up. The walls had poor patchwork repairs, the sheets were stained, and there were bugs—yes, actual cockroaches. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the towels were stained and damp. My girlfriend immediately felt sick from the smell, and we left within 15 minutes without unpacking a single thing. The worst part? They still charged us a cancellation fee, even though we didn’t stay the night. I understand this is a budget hotel, but basic cleanliness and safety should be the minimum, and this place failed on both counts. Save yourself the stress and spend your money elsewhere—this was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

The property has transients camped out in the front Abandoned vehicle and the side of the building Chainlink run down the side of the parking lot..looks like prison yard. Did not stay... Manager doesnt want to cancel booking with refund

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable my first night was awesome. Garbage needs to be done more often and house keeping left a huge bag of dirty something right outside my door along with an ice bucket. Pool needs lots of work hand rail isn’t even sturdy and a few other things needs repair. Second night noisy people had to have front desk take care of it not your fault some people shouldn’t be allowed in public.

Very poor and unsafe environment for travellers to be in. The rooms were in a very poor state not fit for travellers. No room phone to raise concerns with the front desk. There was illegal activity being conducted on the grounds and in the rooms throughout the day and night. Police attended and left with no improvement.

The stay was fine enough. The room was in horrible shape and smelled bad but there weren't any bugs. The pool was open but unusable as it was full of trash luke leaves, regular trash, used band aids and cigarette butts. The television didn't work. The air conditioner worked, the toilet flushed and the shower worked.

DO NOT STAY HERE

After booking online, I was horrified at the condition of the entire hotel. The outside of the building showed damaged vents, garbage cans overflowing and poor maintenance. The front desk clerk sat behind a plexiglass partition. She was polite and cordial. That was the highlight of my interaction with Ecnolodge North. When I was given my pass keys to the room, the clerk said, "They're should be a microwave and a fridge in your room. If they are not there, let me know and I will have one brought up to you." (Cue Red Flag) Went into the room and when I moved the curtains, they fell down off the hooks. The floors did not look clean at all with the corners of the room having black mold and buildup that looked as if it had been there for months. There were holes in the walls. Microwave was punched in, and I didnt dare open the fridge. Upon entering the bathroom, the tub/shower was not clean, there were black stains in the corners of the bathroom, & rust stains on the walls. I went to call the front desk. When searching for the phone, I found it in the nightstand drawer. Between the phone a and the Bible I found what looked to be human excretions....white... that was it. I marched down to the front desk and stated there was NO WAY I could stay here with my child. Never again, will I trust the reviews from online sites. I WILL RESEARCH the reviews via google away from whatever app I happen to use.

Wors place ever. Staff are not friendly at all. We were to the front desk ask for a new towel, they say they are sold out ... The ground of the room was dirty, as well as the shower, mould everywhere, presence of blates, and a smell of cigarettes and popers in the room. Walking in, the lobby is not as pictured on the site. There is plexiglass to the ceiling in front of the desk. The registrar indicated that we would not get the room we had reserved (king bed.) When I told her we would need a king bed, she assigned us to a queen bed. She replied that we would not like the area we were being assigned to for the night. I questioned her and she became quiet. We had arrived later and knew that reservations in the area were hard to locate for the night. As we arrived in the room, there were no lights to turn on. We realized that the switch operated a lamp that had no bulb. There were no linens, no hairdryer, no ironing board, all as advertised. We went to call and realized the phone did not work. We made a call with our cells to the front desk. We did not receive the most welcome response and decided, even with the late hour, we needed to move. We were ready to leave when the loud noises, bumping and screaming started occurring outside. Children were crying. This went on for hours. Due to what was happening outside our room, we felt it was best to stay inside and not leave. Then, we realized we had no smoke alarm. There was a metal backing and wires from what had been a smoke alarm up near the ceiling. Also, the hotel did not indicate it had rooms opening to the outside. When we did emerge the next morning at sunlight, there was trash all over the place and we realized how filthy the sidewalk and stairs were outside.

Avoid at all costs

The room was clean. The lobby staff were fine. Those are the the good things. The not so good... The drug dealers hanging out by the stairs to the 2nd level, right by my door. Offered me a choice of products they had for sale. When I refused and opened the door to enter my room, one of them tried to look inside. I quickly closed and locked the door. The room was awful. TV reception was terrible. No iron or ironing board. No hair dryer. Light bulbs missing. No floor mat to step on when getting out of the shower. Cold water from the spigot was warm and tasted bad. Go across the street to the Hampton.
