Seven women from six states met here to see each other and Charleston.Pros: Historic home with seven comfortable beds in a beautiful city, plenty of activities and restaurants to keep us busy, responsive hosts who fixed what they could (corrected low hot water supply, brought a new toaster oven). Downstairs living room seated all of us.Cons: No dishwasher, oven, large pots, or table where we could sit together to eat, visit, plan itineraries, etc. Having to walk up and down several steps (upstairs bedroom steps have no handrail) in the night and walking through another woman’s bedroom to get to the bathroom was inconvenient for us but would have been horrible if we had brought our husbands. We had hoped we could sit together somewhere outside like a garden or patio. Upstairs porch has a table but none of us enjoyed the staircase; we couldn’t carry anything like coffee or food in one hand while the other hand clung to the curving handrail where one of the spindles is loose.
