Disappointing Stay at Astera Hotel Canggu My stay at Astera Hotel in Canggu was underwhelming for several reasons. While the property itself has potential, several issues made my experience less than enjoyable. Room Issues: The door to my room had consistent problems, which was frustrating. Breakfast: It was just okay—nothing special. Limited Towels: The hotel provided very few towels, which was inconvenient. Location: The hotel overlooks a construction site, which takes away from any potential scenic views. Safety Concerns: The biggest issue was the dangerous location. Crossing the street daily was treacherous, especially for families. One day, there was a crossing guard at the hotel, but he was completely inattentive, distracted by his phone instead of assisting guests. I had to cross on my own and was nearly hit. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially for families or those expecting a safe and well-maintained stay.

I can’t say enough good things about Astera Luxury Resort & Spa in Canggu—it was truly a dream stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. Everyone we encountered was incredibly kind, helpful, and professional. Our room was absolutely spectacular—spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. Any time we needed assistance, the front desk team was always quick to respond with a smile. They made everything so seamless, which really set the tone for a relaxing stay. I celebrated my birthday at the resort and treated myself to the flower pool experience, and wow—it was magical! It was everything I hoped for and more, with the flowers perfectly arranged for that extra touch of luxury. I also did the floating breakfast, which was just as beautiful as it was delicious. One of the staff members who set it up even offered to take photos for me, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Those photos will be memories I’ll cherish forever! Breakfast every morning was a highlight—the food was fresh, flavorful, and there was always a great selection. I became a big fan of the resort’s restaurant, Paed Thai—the dishes there were consistently amazing. If you’re looking for the perfect place to stay in Canggu, I couldn’t recommend Astera Luxury Resort & Spa more. From the incredible staff to the stunning amenities, it’s a 10/10 experience. I’m already dreaming of my next visit!

It was a beautiful resort that was extremely relaxing and accommodating. The room we booked was beautiful and romantic with its private pool and hot tub. All the staff was super helpful and kind. There were lots of yummy dining options just a walk away. A little far from the beach but you could walk the shops first to get there or grab public transport easily. I would definitely recommend and would definitely come back!

Was a bit hesitant on this property as it was 3 km from the beach but the walk there is doable and passes cute restaurants and shops. This property is immaculate. Pure luxury. Private pool and jacuzzi plus another pool for the entire property. Just absolutely stunning.

The area felt safe, room service is available but there are lots of great food options close by in walking distance. The Villa will help you with anything down to hiring bikes, taxis, massages etc.

A ROOM WITHOUT A VIEW

I didn't expect the view to be a roof top and a busy road. Its far more important to be honest. Also to try sleeping through a smoke detector beep due to its battery low every 10 minutes was a real struggle for me. Things like this matter. Clean and lovely staff.

Unser Aufenthalt wurde zum Schluss dadurch getrübt, dass wir beim Check out „verdächtigt“ wurden, zwei Kleiderbügel mitgenommen zu haben. Als wir dies verneinten, sollten wir so lange warten, bis diese gefunden wurden. Wir wurden sogar gefragt, zurück in die Villa zu gehen, um nach ihnen zu suchen! Insgesamt hat das einen total negativen Eindruck hinterlassen, gerade weil wir die teuerste Villa (royal private pool villa für 250 Euro pro Nacht) gebucht haben. Bei diesem Preis würde ich auch erwarten, dass die Fotos den realen Gegebenheiten entsprechen, was sie nicht tun: Der große Hauptpool hat keinen freien, unverstellten Blick auf Reisfelder, da alles rundherum bebaut ist bzw. sich in Bau befindet. Dasselbe trifft für den Blick vom privaten Pool der Royal Villa zu, diese Kategorie (im Unterschied zu einer Kategorie günstiger) zu buchen, lohnt sich leider nicht.

Enjoyable trip

Hotel was very clean and staff were very attentive to myself and my wife. Bed comfortable, private pool and spa were also enjoyable. The large pool in the pictures is for all guests however we had it to ourselves every time we went. Rooms have small fridges that you can store some of your own drinks. Minibar prices were more than what you’d pay if you got the beverages elsewhere however weren’t ridiculously over priced. While there are some small details that I think could be addressed, I don’t think overall this affected our trip. The Villa is located walking distance to cafes, restaurants and convenience stores however you will be walking along the road or in grass or mud there are no sidewalks. You could also walk to main area Canggu in around 35 minutes. Overall, I think that the hotel, location, amenities and staff were fantastic. I would stay here again.

The overall ambiance of the place is amazing. The rooms are beautiful. The good service was limited yet tasty. My only issue was every towel and sheet was clean but stained.
