Tired but transformable.

The staff were very helpful supplying a fan as it was over 30 degrees and our room( 207) was located just above the kitchen extractor fans. It has a beautiful conservatory where we ate the continental breakfast which was basic but sufficient and included in the booking price;a cooked breakfast was an additional £12pp. No dairy alternatives were available. Be advised that parking is £18 per night unless you book directly through the hotel and is not mentioned by third party booking agents. If the company shareholders were to invest in a deep clean of existing carpets, upholstery etc and redecorate it would greatly increase its appeal as its in a prime location next to the River Cam and a 15 minute river walk into Cambridge central.

No lift so be prepared to lug suitcases up three flights of stairs yourself. Be very careful you don’t end up with a room on Level 3 where the bedroom is a further flight of stairs from the “en/suite”.

Cambridge hotel with parking

Sadly few staff at check in. The hotel is a conversion from a row of separate houses with a central corridor to access bedrooms, with many steep staircases, no lifts available. So carried luggage up the staircases. The rooms on the 3rd floor are very small and in the hot weather not well ventilated. We needed to open the only window to the emergency staircase to allow some ventilation at night in a warm summer visit. No fans or airconditioning available, it is an old building. Staff only seen at front desk and breakfast and limited in number. The dining breakfast conservatory area is very pleasant but no lunch or tea service available. Few staff to clear tables in the conservatory at breakfast Parking is plentiful but pricey, and the location is excellent

The hotel is in a decently convenient area but is extremely outdated, it feel like a WW2 experience. It was the cheapest option and I got what I paid for. The staff were lovely! The room was acceptable (though rather hot as the window was too small to have any effect haha) the continental breakfast was fitting to the rest of the experience... Overall, I'd stay stay again in a pinch... But I'd hapilly pay 30 quid more for a Premier Inn...

Reasonable place to stay in central Cambridge

Better than I thought it would be; a rather old hotel in need of a bit of a facelift, but clean with helpful staff and well-located; included breakfast and restaurant available, both good.

The hotel itself is nice, but the internet in our room was terrible (3rd floor). Given that internet is essentially for international travelers without cell data, this added a lot of unnecessary stress. Want to plan the day and get directions, no. Want to make a reservation for dinner, no. Want to relax in the evening with a movie, no. …

The property is dated, although I stay when prices are low when I book last minute, it’s not value for money. they have a habit of asking for a deposit by way of physical card and don’t accept contactless apple or other method. Nowhere in the policy states they only accept physical cards, and to be threatened by an arrogant on a power trip manager that my booking will be cancelled and not refunded unless I can produce a physical card and not they don’t take contactless Apple Pay. The bathrooms have rust all around and the only thing added post 1988 are the telephones in the rooms, Food is overpriced even at discount rates, with better quality 200yards away, but if you don’t pay £15 deposit by way of hard physical your booking is cancelled, I guess it’s better than having to leave your goat as a deposit dating back to when it was built as technology has not caught up.

The accommodation was really close to the city centre - the room was spacious a- it might have looked a little dated but nonetheless it was clean and tidy - would definitely use again
