Besakih is a tropical Balinese styled apartment with a very large private garden, conveniently located in a very quiet peaceful position, 100 metres from the new bus transit centre, 150 mtr stroll from Byron's CBD and 150 mtr to Main Beach (the only beach patrolled by Byron Surf Club).

Inside, antique teak wood and rattan Indonesian furniture, coupled with beautiful polished bamboo timber floors, give the apartment a welcoming Balinese feel. There are two bedrooms. The main has a queen bed whilst the second sleeps two in singles. * please note that with prior notice the 2 single beds can be made into a king bed.*
Both bedrooms overlook the private enclosed garden.

Besakih is completely self contained with laundry and complete kitchen.

The apartment has a very large private tropical garden, with an outdoor covered dining area. Large stone statues throughout the garden create a wonderful tropical atmosphere. The garden is secure making it a great place for young children to play and pets to be secure.

Overall, Besakih offers guests a beautifully furnished private garden apartment in a fabulous location and represents outstanding value for money!

Besakih's location has so much going for it! The apartment is in a quiet, tucked away position in town, with no through traffic. Yet we have absolutely everything right on our door step, the beach, shops, famous Markets and farmers markets ,restaurants, pubs and cinemas.

A 100m walk from Besakih and you are at Main Beach and the Byron Bay Surf Club, the only patrolled beach in Byron. This is the most sheltered beach in Byron . There is also a public swimming pool at the Main Beach carpark.

Besakih is directly opposite the site of the famous Byron Markets held on the 1st Sunday of every month, and Every Thursday a Farmers Market sells fresh local organic produce from the site, and is a great place to source some great local fruit,vegies and locally made food.

SO MANY THINGS TO DO, SO LITTLE TIME

The Main Beach of Byron is a popular spot for walkers. Many people walk to The Pass and back, enjoying the fantastic scenery and maybe stopping for breakfast at Clarkes Beach Cafe. A popular walk with locals is doing The Lighthouse walk. This popular walk starts at Main Beach and travels to The Pass, through Palm Valley onto Wategos Beach and continues up to The Lighthouse.

Of course the beach is fantastic! Because it is North facing there is a fabulous view back across the mountains that you could never get tired of. It is common to have dolphins swim in the bay close to shore, they will often surf the waves with swimmers and board riders. Most surf lesson guarantee you will stand on your board or your money back!

The Pass is a lovely beach and it sometimes becomes a tidal lagoon, which is great fun for the kids. People sometimes fish in the lagoon but it is not there all year round. There are lots of beautiful Pandanus trees at The Pass and nice BBQ areas.

The garden is the best

We arrived in the evening and so did not get a full look at the garden in all its loveliness until the next morning. This property is in a good location, the beds are comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet.

Would do it again!

The apartment is perfectly located very close to the centre (5 minutes walk to Main Beach), but very quiet though. The asian style is very nice and continues in the beautiful garden with huge palm trees and a nice lounge area. Our host Lois couldn't have been more friendly and supporting. For example: As there was no BBQ but we would have liked one, she just got one for us without any further discussion. Her responses prior to our stay came very fast and she was helpful all the time, although we never met her personally. If I go back to Byron the Besakih Apartment will be my first choice again.

We have stayed at numerous holiday homes in several countries and never been expected to supply dishwashing liquid or toilet paper. Had we purchased dishwashing liquid we would have had to leave it behind because we are from overseas and it would make a mess in the luggage during the flight. The American girl upstairs has been there two years - we talked with her and she told us that. If you are not going to supply the bare minimum basics then say so - that way people can make an informed decision and/or bring those supplies in advance. Afterall, how is one supposed to know what the previous guest has left or not left?

Excellent family accommodation

We came with an 11 week old baby, and thought the place was just perfect for our needs. There was ample space for all our baby things and outdoor area to play in. We were so close to main beach and cafes so didn't need the car. Would come again.

This 2 bedroom apartment was spacious and well appointed. The garden area in particular was very tranquil. It was within walking distance of the main street where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants.

Pretty Place With Some Issues

We spent a week at Besakih. The decor is gorgeous and so well done that it looks as though it was decorated by a professional. The furniture was of good quality and I loved all of the Balinese accents. We live on 10 acres but the courtyard was so stunning that I began thinking how nice it would be to have one just like it. So many stone statues placed just right and lush tropical foliage. The shower was excellent. Loved the showerhead and the shower floor which was very safe for someone who has mobility issues. And the bathroom mirror was to die for. The kitchen was well stocked too. The issues were that upon arrival there was only half a roll of toilet paper which meant we had to go buy some. The property description said one has to bring their own toiletries which I take to mean shampoo, soap, etc - I would not consider toilet paper a toiletry. There was very little dishwashing liquid and I rang Lois to let her know and she said to either add water to the remaining liquid to make it last longer or buy a new bottle. I was not going to buy something that should come with the unit so we had to wash dishes with diluted liquid that probably did not clean things as well. The listing also says this is a quiet place but our upstairs neighbours, who live there, were noisy, particulary the young American woman. The morning after we arrived she was on her balcony at 7.00AM making phone calls. She had a very, very loud voice and it woke us up and we could literally hear everything she said. We left at 9.30 to go to the market across the road and she was still talking. Her voice literally drowned out the two resident kookaburras. We had to vacate our apartment on departure day well before our flight left so we hoped to sleep in but that was not possible because at 7.30AM their stereo came on very loudly. Ironically it got turned down by 9.00AM. On balance, this is a lovely place but should we come back to Byron Bay we would either opt to stay at one of other, cheaper and quite nice apartments at Somerset or somewhere else entirely.

This accomodation really does have everything. Great location (5 minutes to town / beach and 30 secs to the markets) Great facilities - it has everything you could need for a self catering break Great garden - the perfect place for an evening vino Booking was easy for Besakih, we found the whole process very straightforward and uncomplicated. The price was very reasonable and we would thoroughly recommend this accomodation.

We had a great time in Byron at Besakih Holiday Apartment. The property was very comfortable with a lovely garden. Only problem was that the walls are very thin. It didn't bother us too much but we knew when the people upstairs went to the loo or had a shower.

Comfortable and clean

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this accommodation. Was spotlessly clean and nice to have some basic staples (ie tea, coffee, condiments) left in the cupboard for our use...not that we needed them as everything was within walking distance. there was even a small coffee machine and a plunger which I really appreciated! Comfortable beds and our host even dropped by a hairdryer as I didnt have one with me. Highly recomend this accommodation.

Perfect week-long 'Balinese' retreat

After a 14 hour drive from Canberra, we couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and beautiful home to arrive at. The house was perfectly sized for the four of us, with plenty of space to relax both inside and outside in between trips to the beach. Close enough to town to walk in to town each day, but far enough away to be out of the noise and hustle and bustle. The house was clean and tidy, beautifully presented and really made you feel like you were in Bali (I was even able to enjoy doing my daily yoga practice outside in the luscious courtyard of a morning - what a treat!). A suggestion for other guests might be to bring a power-board if you have a lot of electrical things to plug in - we had to unplug a few appliances to make space for our phone chargers etc. - but that wasn't really a problem. One extra pleasant surprise was finding the wonderful Byron markets were held on weekends right across the road! Lois was easy to communicate with, making the administrative side very simple. Would definitely stay again in future and definitely recommend! Thanks so much, Lois. :-)

Perfect schoolies accommodation!

Our schoolies trip went perfectly thanks to our accomadation and landlady lois. Lois went out of her way to accommodate us, the apartment was perfect and central to the main streets of Byron. We were directly opposite the markets and only a super short walk from the beach, nightlife and shops. I would highly reccomend besakih!!!

We stayed at the Besakih Holiday Apartment for a girls weekend away and could not have been happier! Perfect location, we could walk to everything! Everything we needed was in the apartment, we never had to stress about a thing! Have already recommended to several friends and we plan to make our Byron trip an annual event and stay at Besakih every time.

Superb location in Byron

This is a lovely apartment in an excellent location. Peaceful and quiet but just a short walk to all the cafes and shops and the beach. The apartment has a lovely garden with outdoor settings. It is tastefully decorated and the bed was so comfortable I want to buy one the same for home. All in all, would return in an instant.

Great location, not fully wheelchair accessible

We stayed at both Besikah and Batukaru and both were well maintained, clean, lovely units within walking walking to main street. We wanted wheelchair accessible rooms and although the units were on the ground floor, they wouldn't be suitable for a high level of disability. Access into the unit is through a fairly small doorway with a lip. The shower in Besikah is not accessible for someone using a shower commode at all; the one in Batukaru was a slight improvement but very tight and with a large lip into the shower. Other than that, both rooms were clean and tidy, and owners were very gracious about allowing us to check in earlier/out later.
