On the upside, the hot tub was fine, the sauna worked but needs painting and cleaning, the yard was cute, the flowers pretty and the view made it all worth the effort to stay. Our family enjoyed our vacation but would not rent here again and here is why: The last thing I wanted to do on my well earned vacation was to clean, which is what I did for the first day and an half after a 6 hour drive. The place needed a seasonal deep clean, as stated in the first review, which we did not see until it was too late to cancel. Kitchen and baths were fine, except for the bath mats which looked like they had never been washed. I had to buy cleaning supplies and air fresheners and dust every shelf, lighting fixture and lamp shade (chandelier still has dust and cob webs), wash bath mats, buy new cushions to sit on on the outside chairs and clean up mouse poop and webs from the screened porch. The basement was musty and smelled like cat pee. I asked the owner for a refund on the cleaning fee and was told NO but I could leave for a refund, which would have been great except there was nowhere to go! I was also told that “there is wildlife and so there will be mouse poop”. We paid 700 a night so that I could clean the mouse poop? NO. Not the way this works. This is a cute property that is run down. Chipping paint, dirty grill, moldy porch ceiling, ripped cushions and rugs, stained and rusty chairs. It was once well cared for but needs TLC. Honest review.
