Beautiful Historic Cotswolds Stay in a Stunning Location

We had a lovely stay at this charming 17th-century property in Stanton. The house is full of character and the location is absolutely beautiful, making it a wonderful base for exploring the Cotswolds. We really enjoyed our time here. With some improvements to cleaning, maintenance, and a few comfort details, it could be an exceptional holiday home.

we enjoyed our stay even if we didn’t spend that much time in the house as my mom lives 50 yards away but house was lovely the stairs was alittle steep but we enjoyed it Many thanks

Lovely cottage in a great location

The stone cottage was the perfect blend of old world charm with modern conveniences The bathrooms were spotless and the kitchen well equipped. The Mount Inn was walkable and had great food. The Cotswolds Trail runs directly behind the Inn and was a great place for a hike.

Wonderful, period Cotswold cottage in Stanton.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Stone Cottage in Stanton. Well appointed accommodation in an idyllic location. A period cottage with some period features, including squeaky staircase! Many pubs locally, most of which serving good value meals.

Lovely stay at stone cottage

Just returned from a lovely stay at this cottage. Great location, lovely interior and very clean. Kitchen was well equipped and the outdoor seating was great in the sun. Only thing we felt might have been nice was perhaps some mini toiletries / shower gel to compliment the lovely bathrooms. Overall, great stay and we would be keen to return. Thank you!

A perfect weekend retreat

Having grown up in the area, I always hoped I could visit and actually stay in the village! What a perfect find with Stone Cottage. A perfect mix of a beautiful old cottage with modern amenities. Cosy and comfortable, it was perfect for us. Stanton is the epitome of all things Cotswold and the Mount Inn never disappoints!

Perfect Cotswold Stay

Perfect cotswold cottage. Brilliantly presented in a gorgeous little village. Away from the usual crowds, but theres great pub nearby and also short walk from Cotswold stay. Lots to do, only a short drive away. Definitely recommend to both cotswold first timers, and those who know the area well.

Stone Cottage in Stanton is a perfect Cotswolds holiday home basically in any regard - that's really all there is to say! But if I had to point out anything that could be even further improved: It would be nice having some spare towels (for the kitchen as well as for the bathroom), toilet paper and cosmetic tissues.

Quiet luxurius stay

We've had a great stay at this high end property which is very nicely finished and situated in a quiet road (notwithstanding called High Street). It was an enjoyable experience. Property was clean and had all the comforts in a 'postcard' neighbourhood. One has to be careful with the stairs, which are inaccessible if the guest has mobility issues.

Another lovely cottage in Stanton

Beautiful two-bed cottage with everything you needed in a gorgeous location with fantastic weather - who wants anything else! Lovely large bathroom with a great shower and great kitchen space. In true cottage fashion the living space is small but comfortable. As the listing warns, the stairs are tight and you need to be nimble. The only downside was that the main bed mattress wasn’t massively comfortable.

Our dream getaway

An amazing beautiful cottage set in a stunning picturesque village so peaceful only the sound of the horses going by. The Mount Inn just down the road was first class the food and service was impeccable and everyone made us feel very welcome. Leaving the cottage was so very hard my partner had to drag me kicking and screaming ha, ha. We'll definitely return to this little piece of paradise. Thank you to the owners David & Laura and Bolthole Retreats. Claire and Dave.

Dream Holiday

What an exceptionally beautiful home. Now filled with great memories and fun times. The location is excellent and the walks are superb. It's a home I will return to again and again, as the area is held so close to my heart. With family connections, it makes it all the more memorable for me. What a wonderful Bolthole Retreat! Stone Cottage

Stone Cottage is set in one of the most beautiful villages I've ever seen... The cottage itself is beautiful. However, be warned if your tall you might hit your head going up the stairs... There is quite a lot of wear and tear in the cottage, especially the walls/cracks etc. The cottage is comfortable, however could be finished to a higher standard for the cost per night.

A beautiful cottage in an equally beautiful village

The village of Stanton is beautiful, we would love to revisit and for a longer period, to enjoy the local walking and of course the ‘pub’ The cottage itself is exceptional, in so many ways, and offers everything that we were hoping for on our trip to what is probably our favourite area to spend time. My only problem relating to comfort was the very hard pillows, unfortunately I found these too uncomfortable and we went out to buy ones we could use. We will certainly come to Stone Cottage again

Comfortable, cosy cottage in a beautiful village

Stone Cottage was a wonderful place to spend a few days. Sitting on the High Street in one of the Cotswold's most beautiful villages, the cottage is comfortable, with all modern amenities; toasty warm, well-stocked kitchen, great beds and tasteful furnishings. But it also has historic charm to match the many ancient manor houses and cottages of the village. It sits alongside the Cotswolds Way, so there are great walks from the door - up the hill past a great local pub, the Mount Inn, towards Snowshill, or through the iconic village of Stanway towards Winchcombe. I visited in the autumn and the colours of the foliage and sky were incredible. There's a real feeling of freedom and beauty in the area - and for history buffs, check out the 12th century frescoes in the church at Hailes. A great retreat for some countryside peace and tranquility!

Enjoy the beauty of the Cotswolds in Stone Cottage!

Stone Cottage was a beautiful place to stay for our visit to the Cotswolds! The view from the upstairs window was dreamy. The sound of horses walking up and down High Street transported us to another time. Stanton is a quiet, peaceful village in pristine condition with a classic pub at the end the road. The cottage was authentic yet nicely modernized and decorated. The kitchen had everything you need to cook a nice meal. We appreciated having outdoor patio space to enjoy the warm weather we had during our stay. We recommend that Bolthole Retreats provide a few more supplies — like dishwasher pods, garbage bags, dish towels—to help us keep the cottage clean while we’re there (we stayed 8 nights and had only one garbage bag and 3 dishwasher pods). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it!
