Service has gone downhill at the Sonesta.

The Royal Sonesta has beautiful rooms, and some dingy ones so be careful! I selected to change my room type on Hotels.com which lowered the price of the room ( weeks before my stay) The hotel did not honor this, Dorian gave us very difficult time at the desk, blaming 3rd party booking, even though I had my receipt. When we finally got in a room it was awful, It was dingy and dark with huge carpet stains and a section of carpet all tore up. I could not believe they would book such a room for 300+ a night. After a lot of hassle we were moved to a cleaner room, which I did appreciate. I looked on the Sonesta’s website as instructed and they could have booked me in the same room at a much lower rate, Dorian did not offer this. The girls at the desk in the morning were very nice and helpful though. We used to love staying here, the pool is nice and the river view of Boston. It’s an easy walk to the TD garden. Parking is convenient but expensive ($47 per night), and there was no valet this time. I use Hotels.com for all my booking and have never had an issue expect for at the Sonesta.

This place is a perfect for sight seeing - a short walk to public transport, but you can walk to TD garden in under 20 minutes, and pass the Science Museum on the way. Location can't be beat. Great value, too. Nice rooms. Exceptionally good staff. Parking is a great value in the on-site garage, but it is small.

Nice and convenient hotel in the quieter part of the city. The property is a little dated and needs some renovation but overall was great. We particularly enjoyed the mall located across the street and the science museum that was at walking distance.

Outstanding staff however noisy room

Staff was wonderful and accommodations was acceptable except did Did not like having a room next to elevator shaft. The room was noisy every time the elevator passed by.

Great for Events at TD Garden

This stay was reasonably priced.The location was great for us - about a 15 minute walk to TD Garden. The parking was easy with the garage right at the hotel. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room was quite small though. It wasn't a problem for us, and it might have been because we were next to the electrical room, but you had to squeeze to get through the space between the bed and TV stand/dresser. You could barely get into the fridge since the fridge door opened opposite the wooden cabinet door. Totally fine for one night, but not a great design. Also, the "city view" from that room was basically looking at the roof of the lower area of the building. All in all, if I had an event at the Garden where I wanted to stay overnight, I would consider this location again!

The property was in a great location. It seemed to be renovated fairly recently and was nice. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The check-in was pretty slow, but we were checking in on July 3 in Boston. So I expected delays!
