We stayed in a standard double room for 2 nights, and everything went well. The room was basic (bed, small table, a small rail with some clothes hangers, no TV) but clean. The bed was comfortable.
The only odd thing about our stay was the breakfast. We added breakfast at the time of booking. We went down reception/bar area in the morning and informed the team member we had breakfast with our booking, and both times we were simply told, "Have a seat and we'll bring it over to you." We were not asked any questions about preference, allergy, or dietary requirements. After a short while a bowl of yoghurt topped with granola and a heated fresh made ham and cheese toastie were brought over to us. This is the first time we've ever had breakfast at a hotel where we were simply told, "We'll bring your breakfast to you." without any further questions. This would have been awkward if we were vegetarian, gluten intolerant, lactose intolerant, or a few other things.
Breakfast also didn't come with the option of a latte, although they had the ability to make them. It was only offered with tea or filtered coffee.
The team were friendly, and the location was very good. It was on a quiet street, but still just a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Birmingham. Next to the hotel was a brewery taproom which we could also recommend.
