Great choice for space, serenity and wildlife

The views were great, the surroundings were so peaceful, and the home was well stocked, spacious and well decorated. My family of 5 had plenty of room and enjoyed the home so much that we spent much more time there than originally intended. I had breakfast with a chipmunk while watching the Stellar Jays and Magpies fly from tree to tree and then saw a large herd of elk right down the road. The property is inside a gated area, but don't be misled by that - it is still very secluded with plenty of mountains and trees to view either from outside or inside thru very large windows. I would definitely book this one again!

Secluded setting with stunning views

We stayed here for 6 nights with our best friends. The home was easy to find and in a nice gated acreage community. The house is very comfortable as were the beds. We enjoyed the huge kitchen and, while unusual, the split bedrooms were okay. Our friends were not fans of the "open" bathroom setup in the master. No door on the water closet. The bathrooms were spacious but we found that to turn on the water in the jetted tub upstairs, you had to climb into the tub to reach the faucets! Then the shower downstairs is odd in the same way, you had to enter the shower thru the back and reach to turn the water on, the first time is not pleasant finding this out. The baths were stocked with plenty of towels. The home is beautifully decorated with taxidermy although it could all use a good dusting. The furnishings in the living room are comfortable and there are many soft throws to use. The deck off the kitchen was good size and we enjoyed using the propane firepit a couple of evenings. You could see a zillion stars in the night sky. We went on a walk one day and the area is beautiful, but sadly we did not see much wildlife at all. Only a chipmunk on the deck railing and a flock of wild turkeys going by on our last evening. It is very quiet and peaceful day and night. It was a nice break from our big city lives. It is about a 20-25 minute drive into Durango. The Mexican place in Bayfield was not great. We ended up buying groceries and staying in allot.

Amazing views and wildlife

Amazing views and wildlife to look at turkeys roosting in the tree right next to house every night. Elk in the fields out in the distance beautiful home secluded and peaceful

Beautiful Bayfield views

Property was beautiful and in a nice secluded area for peace and quiet. House was spacious and lots of room to move around however I would have liked to have a family dining area to eat together and not just a breakfast bar. Also some appliances did not work properly - microwave didn’t work at all, it did not heat anything. Grill was out of propane so it impacted our plans to mostly eat at home. Also kitchen was lacking some basic things for a big group up to 9 ppl. ( only 6 plates for example) The toilet was loose and not secure. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves so just giving honest feedback I would want to know if this was my rental. Thanks for letting us stay there!

Secluded Getaway

Property was as described. Beautiful views and very spacious. Road to and from can get a little tough with snow. Chris from management company was very responsive to any questions we had. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Enjoying Black Bear Lodge

We had plenty of room in the house and enjoyed it very much. We were hoping to grill one night but the grill had a bird’s nest in it and we had nothing to really clean it up with so that was a bit disappointing!!

Hilltop getaway

We came to the area for an event at Ignacio and decided to stay in a vacation rental vs. hotel. We were not disappointed. The views are among the best the valley has to offer. The house is spacious and cries out for you to entertain. Overall, the views and ambiance made the trip a wonderful experience.
