We were looking for a “not too hot” place to go at the end of July and Beech Mountain fit the bill! The house is kind of plain on the outside, but the inside is comfortable and the views from the decks are great! The “Main” floor is a walk up with an outside staircase but once you are in, you can get to the outside from one of the downstair’s bedrooms. The bottom floor has the master suite with full bath and two more bedrooms that share a full bath. The master suite has a small deck and the queen bedroom on that level has an outside door to access the deck with the hot tub. The washer and dryer are located in a closet in the twin bedroom. On the upper floor, is an open kitchen, dining, living room with a large deck which has seating and a grill. The living room has a gas fireplace. The kitchen is very well supplied with lots of utensils, dishes, glasses (including kid friendly versions) pots and pans as well as fun incidentals. The cabinet above the toaster has a collection of random alcoholic beverages if that is of interest to you. There is a pantry, a full bath and a bedroom off the kitchen. There are lots of trails and parks within a short distance. There are also many good restaurants. We liked the breakfast at Fred’s Merchantile, the coffe/tea at Poppy’s Coffee, and dinner at Frazier’s. Banner Elk is a close by fun community with live theatre, outdoor music and good food all in a walkable downtown area. The local Vacasa agent, James, and manager, Sam, both worked hard to help us when an unforeseen problem arose, and helped to make our stay even more enjoyable!
