The Grand Hacienda is a small, boutique, re-invented bed and breakfast experience located on a mesa overlooking Abiquiú Lake, Ghost Ranch and the yellow, purple and red cliffs of Abiquiu. The Hacienda, with its location, luxurious amenities and gracious hosts, offers a rare and unique lodging experience in Abiquiu. With only three suites, the adults-only location offers privacy, natural remoteness, awe-inspiring views, and a sense of peace and calm. Each suite has its own private entrance that leads into a beautiful and authentic architectural paradise. Live comfortably with a king-sized bed made up with luxurious linens; a spa bathroom with walk-in shower; cable TV, WIFI, coffee and more amenities; and a private outdoor lounge with a chiminea fire pot, lounge chairs and expansive views. Shared amenities on the property include a fully stocked kitchen; laundry facilities; the Great Room with kiva fireplace and library; onsite Mercado gift store; a bubbling hot tub on the mesa cliff; a rooftop deck and lakeside terrace; bocce ball and jenga outdoor games; hiking trails; and so much more.

The culinary experience at The Hacienda will be a memorable part of your vacation – the scenic location; menus that blend native aromatic spices with creative, nutritious and delicious cuisine; and artful presentation. Foodies will not be disappointed. Herbs and most vegetables are organically grown onsite in the greenhouse and gardens; and eggs, meats and everything else is sourced as locally as possible. The Hacienda team places a priority on healthy living – and you will find it contagious. The Hacienda has a beer/wine liqueur license and is proud to offer a cultivated wine list from the owners’ private collection.

Guests enjoy three-course, gourmet, innovative breakfasts each morning, complete with cappuccinos, lattes and teas. Plan to hang around after breakfast to plan out your day and enjoy conversations with Carolyn and Tom and other like-minded guests. Spend a day exploring Abiquiu; return for your afternoon snack or happy hour; soak in the hot tub; join in sky gazing or trivia at night; and then light a fire in your private chimenea and roast s’mores.

A stay at The Hacienda is also very, very green – combined with modern technology. Solar panels, rain water catchment, grey water use, earthed floors, and suites shielded from electromagnetic fields (EMFs) – which makes your vacation not only wonderful, but good for the land, earth and you. The Hacienda was built with the land, not on the land. But if you must connect, enjoy cable TV and Starlink satellite internet services.

Staying in this desert region is sacred, you can feel the energy from the land once inhabited by the Tewa puebloans and the Navajo. The location is a rarity, must be experienced to be believed, and attracts travelers from around the world. You share the land with wild life, including resident ravens Stanley and Ophelia.
