Exuma Sugar Beach Villa
Mixed feelings about stay. The cottage building smelled of smoke and was uninhabitable for several guests. Later found an empty cigarette pack nearby. Water was not available twice during the stay for a total of about 16 hours, first due to faulty pump equipment, then due to a toilet flapper (connected via a thin string) left in open position. I learned later that a similar event happened to another guest, confirming that the owner knew of this and did not repair the pump. Several things did not work: a garbage disposal, ceiling fan, and a dishwasher, for example. Kayaks were on site with insufficient number of paddles and no life vests. The site advertised an outdoor gym on premises which was a lie: no gym existed. In general, the property is in the early stages of disrepair and has not had sufficient maintenance and attention. With all these issues, there was no offer from the owner to refund money (I didn't ask, but a refund of perhaps a day's rental should have been offered).Conversely, the owner was very timely to my complaints of no water and took quick actions to rectify including providing a water truck to refill the tank and bringing bottled water. The location of the property was magnificent. Finally, two people "came with" the property: Kim and Alex who were beyond attentive and helpful. In sum, the villa was worth about 2/3 of the actual cost. I wouldn't return. Kim and Alex saved the stay.
