Really impressed with this motel. Close to everything, easy check in and parking, spacious clean room and really friendly staff. Basic breakfast included was so convenient. I thought it would be noisy but with the door shut I didn’t hear any road traffic at all. Would stay here again for sure.

A museum piece of Kiwi motels from the 1980s

This motel is a preserved relic of what motels were like in NZ during my first visits ca. 1987-1990. Very misleading photos. Next to busy road, pretty rough condition. Single person was working that day and was clearly overwhelmed by it. Furniture was in pretty bad shape. Cannot see the TV from the queen bed. Was way overpriced too, but this was likely due to Te Matatini going on in New Plymounth, every room in Hawera and NP was taken

The unit itself was adequate for our needs. Unfortunately with the current closure of state highway 1 heavy traffic had been re routed and went right past this property. We booked and paid for 3 nights but left after one night as we virtually had no sleep.
