Nice hotel in downtown DC.

The staff at the Henley was amazing. The atmosphere was also. Our room was a little warm but nice it was right across the street from the Washington Cinvention Center. We will be back.

Nice hotel close to major sites and restaurants

Pros: Henley park hotel is an older hotel on the national register. It is very clean hotel with a restaurant and lounge. They also serve afternoon tea.
Cons: Enjoyed everything about this hotel.
Location: This hotel is close to union station. It is walkable to White House, and Capitol and also Chinatown which has many restaurants and cafes.
My husband and I enjoyed our hotel very much. Our room on 5th floor was quiet and the staff was very courteous and friendly. Our room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Food at the restaurant was excellent. A very quaint and charming hotel and will return again. Cabs are always available and metro is close by.

Good location but very outdated hotel

Pros: Location
Cons: The rooms must be completely renewed.
Location: The location is good, close to restaurants and tourist area of the city.
As soon as you get inside the room, you have the feeling you're back in the 80's, but not in a good way. Furniture and appliances are old and poor quality. The bed was horrible and the windows are of poorest quality: we could hear all the outside noise.

Ask for a room that is NOT on Massachusetts Ave

Pros: It is an old historic building. Nice art in the hall ways.
Location: It is near Chinatown, as well as an easy walk to the National Portrait Gallery. Upscale stores and restaurant are near by.
The hotel is conveniently located to a lot of DC's things to see and do. I am a walker, so we walked to the Jefferson Memorial. I also walked to a gallery above Dupont Circle. The first night our room faced Massachusetts Avenue. I, incorrectly, thought there would be no traffic at night. That street is a main drag for trucks and motorcycles, all night long. I did not sleep well at all. In the morning we asked if we could move to a quieter room, and the staff was wonderful. They showed us another room (on 10th street side of the hotel) which we liked. We moved our belongings and settled in. The new room did not have an extra chair to sit in, and the bathroom was smaller, but it was quiet! The staff was uniformly pleasant.

Quaint hotel, lovely interior

Pros: Great, low-key bar, lovely restaurant. Superb breakfast. Christmas tree was amazing!
Cons: No need for someone to knock on our door in the late afternoon with a bottle of water. Leaving it on the desk is nicer.
Location: Botanic Garden is not to be missed! Natural museum of science was great fun (and great gift shop for those of us living overseas, needing souvenirs.)
The people were friendly, the breakfasts were wonderful. I loved the decor and feeling of history within the building. Only two complaints - lack of hot water both mornings, had to talk with the desk both times and skip a shower one morning; car was parked out front and we happened to see flashing lights so we ran outside to more it immediately. We are from out of town, we don't even think about parking issues normally..I think the door man or front desk who could see what was happening outside, should have popped into the breakfast room and given us a warning! Still, I would stay here again, just say a word about the hot water before I go to sleep at night!
