We recently stayed at the Hay Adams for a 3 day visit to DC. The location of this hotel is wonderful as it’s within walking distance of many sites and has easy access to two metro stations. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and everyone from the doorman to the concierge was eager to help. The room was lovely, large, and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The quiet, elegant ambience of this boutique hotel provided a homey, restful place for our stay. We found it to be worth the expense and would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location and amazing amenities

Pros: Location and staff
Location: Across from the White House, St. John's and Lafayette Park!
The Hay Adams is a historic hotel right outside the doors of the White House. It is perfectly located for a stay in Washington DC. It is absolutely beautiful inside and out and the staff is doting on guests at all times. Hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows were waiting for us after a very cold day of site seeing. This is a wonderful hotel that absolutely worth the cost.

Wonderful classic hotel

Pros: Classic culture, excellent staff, central location.
Cons: Nothing really,
Location: Central location. Across from the White House, walking distance to museums and restaurants or a short taxi ($10) to almost anywhere.
We have changed from staying at the chain hotels we have to for business to heritage hotels with a more classic culture and amenities. The Hay Adams did not disappoint. Everything was wonderful. Without trying to identify every detail, the key to the hotel is their staff. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. When we asked where the business center was, instead of telling me (the brief directions), we were graciously shown. When meeting anyone in the building, they smiled and said hello. What really stood out was the concierge service. We are not city people so we do appreciate having 'help' with understanding the city. Our first evening we asked for suggestions on where to dine. Not only did we receive a list, but also personal favorites. Liere Falcon was amazing. She sent us to a small restaurant, where on our second trip (yes, it was so go we returned), the owner/chef came to our table to discuss the food and wine options, and yes, he knew Liere. She also made suggestions for what do to on our stay and how she could help. Though not city people, we are looking to return to enjoy that special restaurant and stay at the Hay Adams. Thank you, Bill and Julie.

Perfection!

Perfection is the only word to describe my experience at The Hay Adams. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The scent of the rubrium Lilly's in the entry was a pleasant welcome. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Every amenity was available to us. I would highly recommended a stay there. Location perfect!

Class Act

Upgraded to Suite overlooking park and White House upon arrival. Stayed two nights. At at hotel restaurant first night and food and service was great. Small error was made on sauce requested on Red Snapper but manager voluntarily comped the entre and provided free desert. Concierge staff was fantastic with dinner reservations and even booking hotel reservations for us for a July trip to Istanbul. Room service was prompt. Room itself was one of the most attractive we've ever stayed in with warm neutral colors and good light from the double paned windows. Would definately re-book on next trip to DC.

Just LOVELY

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, amazing location
I loved my experience at this hotel. The facility is beautiful and old world charming. The staff is welcoming and friendly, without being intrusive. My room was lovely and romantic (even though i was in town for a meeting....) The toiletries provided were nice and absolutely usable. The location is perfect. There are yummy places to eat in easy walking distance. Couldn't have enjoyed it more, and I will definitely book here automatically on any further trips/travel to the Washington DC area.

Excellent in Every Way

The hotel and staff were all first-rate. Everyone gave 110% to be sure I was enjoying my stay and that I was comfortable. When I arrived, the room type I booked was not available so, for two nights, they put me in a room very similar to that I'd requested. On the third day, they moved me to a junior suite for four days with a view of the White House and all the comforts you could ask for - at no extra charge - just to make up for my inconvenience of not getting the room I had requested those first days. During my stay I enjoyed the restaurant, room service, concierge assistance, laundry, and the hotel's Town Car to get to a business meeting. It IS pricey and before getting there I was concerned that it might be "stuffy." Not at all. Everyone I dealt with was gracious, friendly and intent on doing their part to ensure I enjoyed my visit to DC. A wonderful place to stay when in Washington.
