Convenient location, good hotel.

The hotel room was comfortable and easy to find. There are some amenities, namely pool and workout facility. The staff tries to encourage guests to eat at the hotel bar, which is no frills and slightly over priced. The neighborhood is up and coming, so there are better places to grab a quick meal. The room had a refrigerator, which was a game changer for early morning departure. The supermarket next door has a great selections of food, so if you prefer to pack your own, you would be very happy here. Overall, it was a nice place to stay.

Nice hotel in middle of city

Cons: Request for roll-away bed on reservation but upon arrival was informed that the one roll-away in the building was being used.
sleek, clean lobby with newspapers and coffee in AM

Nice hotel, close to metro

Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful. They helped with parking options so we didn't have to pay the daily hotel fee. Great location! Quiet, close to Metro
Cons: More cookies!! Coffee/tea service more consistently stocked. Cheaper parking.
Location: Harris Teeters grocery store right next store! (They have fresh pizza made in store) Several restaurants near by. Metro is two blocks away!
We enjoyed the hotel. Hot tub was hot! Room clean and nice size, with a small microwave & fridge, which was very convenient! They had hot tea and coffee out in the morning and early evening. (There were cookies too, but they were almost always gone when we got there!)

Wonderful hotel with gracious staff

We were graciously welcomed here and enjoyed our stay very much. Will checked us in, answered our questions, and described the hotel and the area to us. We felt like he was glad we were there and wanted us to have a good experience in D.C. The hotel was easily accessible from Union Station and the Metro and the staff -- not just a few but every single person -- was friendly and eager to assist in every way. The room was clean, attractive, roomy, comfortable, and quiet. We left well-rested. As for the facilities, I printed out a voucher in the Business Center and found logging in to be simple and trouble-free. All the equipment worked like a charm. I just wish we'd had time to relax in the pool. We met friends in the bar for drinks twice and had a delightful time there. The restaurant looked inviting, but dining there didn't fit into our schedule; I'm sure it would have been just as excellent as everything else. A large fabulous grocery store in the same block has everything you can imagine, including hot food and an eating area. I would not hesitate to choose this Garden Inn the next time we're in D.C. and heartily recommend it to prospective guests.

Very pleased. Good family hotel.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
The pool is indoors, which is hard to find in Washington. Parking is by valet ($30 per day), but the car goes to a protected garage under the hotel with easy access in case you forget something. A Metro station one block from the hotel (and a bus route in front of the hotel) allows access to musiums in just a few minutes without the car. (If staying more than 2 days, buy SmarTrip cards to save money on trains and busses.) Especially good for families who don't want to have to eat 3 meals a day in expensive restaurants, there is a big grocery store next door with breakfast and dinner buffets, and there is a fridge and microwave in the hotel room. When everybody is tired at the end of the day, it is nice to relax in you room and eat dinner.

Great Place to stay

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, near metro
I stay at this hotel about 3 times per year, and find it great! It is very close to a red line metro station (around the corner), there is a full gorcery store, drug store and restaurants within the block, and the neighborhood is becoming nicer and nicer. Taxis are easy to get, and not expensive to sites you might like to see (the Capitol, the mall, etc.). The staff are great, the rooms are nice and quiet, they have a pool and workout room, everything is clean and new, the atmosphere is great, and they even have a little store for food and forgotten items. I choose this hotel because it is close to where I work in DC, but I have stayed in MANY hotels in DC, and there are none I would rather stay in.

Super staff!

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet, staff
The otel staff were fabulous! Extremely helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Rooms were very clean and daily houskeeping was amazing. Only complaint I have is that the beds were a lot firmer than I am used to. Great location, close to Metro and not too far from the mall if you are up for a walk.
