Clean, modern, convenient.

Posted Jan 30, 2017
Pros: price, somewhat location, known quality of rooms, friendly housekeeping staff
Cons: need of available electrical outlets in the room
Location: Thomas Circle in DC location, about a walkable mile from Dupont Circle, a few blocks from the White House, easy taxi but long walk to MacPhersonMetro
The hotel is about 20% below some of its neighboring hotels in the Thomas Circle area of DC, but without any loss of quality. The rooms I have stayed in over the years are on the smaller end but they have all the parts. If I have to complain, I would wish for some electrical outlets and would wish that the hotel is a little closer to the Metro (about 8-10 DC blocks).

Thanks so much for being a repeat guest of the Beacon Hotel, we promise that the team here works hard to ensure your next stay. We definitely hear what you are saying about the outlets which is why we've added extra outlets in all the rooms and for your convenience there are outlets and USB ports on all the bedside lamps. The closest Metro (red line) is about a five minute walk. We look forward to welcoming you back on your trip to D.C.!

Over all it was just an okay place to stay during the Thxgiving holiday weekend.... not really exciting for the Beacon bc we had to change twice for the 4 nights there... And one of the front desk woman was horrible in her attitude with customers!!!!

Pictures don't meet reality

Posted Nov 23, 2016 on Expedia
Cons: Current real photo of what room really looks like!
The Beacon is located in a good place for walking but it ends there! Upon booking my stay through Expedia and receiving a confirmation of the total cost for my 4-night stay,I arrive just to find out that they also charge $300.00 additional charges to your account and it is placed on hold for up tp 2 weeks. I argued about the additional fees I was not aware of, they pointed to some clause on my I itinerary from Expedia indicating only that they could! not would charge 100. per day. I asked why the added fees and was told in case I charge for room service or drink their $25.00 bottle of water available in your room. or use Vallet parking. I had plans to use none of the above but was told still had to pay. This hurt my budget dramatically during my stay even went a day without eating due to budget, I'm also still waiting on release of my funds

Location location location

When we checked in, we were early, before check in time. The woman behind the desk said she would look to find us a room. We had no issue waiting. She sent us up to a room that had 2 double beds. My girlfriend and I were in town for my birthday and had booked a queen. Checking our reservation comfirming we had booked a queen, I went back down to the desk. I explained and said I didn't mind waiting. The manager came around the corner with no interest in even addressing me, completely unprofessional, and just barked that "well I know we are out of queens" as he walked off into the back. I smiled at the desk and just insisted that I would be happy when they found me an room that would accommodate my request. They sent me back up with a new room number. This was an elevator shaft room, indeed with a queen, however it's what we used to called a "midget room". It's space is eaten up by the way it's placed, in this case by an elevator shaft. No worries, it was nice and cozy so we went about our agenda in the city. While getting ready I noticed the AC unit wasn't working. Called in a fix because I like it cold when I sleep. It never did work right during our stay.

First class hotel and staff. Key card issues.

Posted Nov 22, 2016 on Expedia
Pros: Location, outside environment, condition of the facilities and cleanliness.
Cons: Key cards.
Location: Stayed here as it was close to my son's apartment. Metro is not too far, plenty of places to eat but still felt very friendly.
The hotel and staff are excellent. Rooms and facilities very clean and comfortable. The only issue I had was with the room key cards. They seemed to fail to work often. I would gladly stay at this hotel any time I am in DC

Thanks so much for staying at the Beacon Hotel. We love hearing that you had a great stay as a guest of ours. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the key cards, they usually get demagnetized when they go through security machines such as the ones at most museums and government buildings throughout the city. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to D.C.!

Ehhh

Staff was rude in trying to rush me off of the phone... Called at check-in... room wasn't ready. Pulled up to the hotel an hour after check in wasn't ready. Booked an accessible room, received a regular room... so many different hidden fees and charges before I even showed up...

Lo mejor que tiene es la ubicación.

Posted Nov 17, 2016 on Expedia
A mitad de camino entre las oficinas y Georgetown, la ubicación es ideal. Muy buen precio para WDC. Razonablemente limpio. El personal fue muy amable pero me robaron dinero de la habitación mientras no estaba.
