We found the hotel very conveniently located, being not far from the main railway station and not far from the D-line tram which goes straight to the city centre. The hotel appears to be under renovation which we were not aware of at the time of booking but this did not make any practical difference to the enjoyment of our stay. The room was exceptionally clean. It was rather small. Some pictures on the wall would have perhaps made it more welcoming. We ordered an additional duvet which was gladly provided. Being winter, it was good to see that the radiator was easy to operate and provided adequate heat. It is a quiet hotel. Personnel on reception in the mornings and in the evenings were helpful. The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the variety of food on offer. Overall, we found that the hotel met our needs for a long weekend and it was good value for money compared to similar hotels in the area.

The front desk personnel is super rude. I already know that Austrians are naturally aloof but I expect someone working in hospitality to treat their customers better. For that reason alone, this hotel has zero rating. Be warned, or you’ll experience hostility right when you check in.

Disappointing. I won’t be back At present, this hotel is notable for one thing that the Expedia property guidance doesn’t say and one thing it does say. First, the entire front of the building is covered in scaffolding and each room contains a notice warning of noise during the week - no mention of this whatsoever. Second, the property is described as upscale and 4-stars. Frankly, I am astonished. The lobby and downstairs public area is small and unwelcoming. The bar appears to be a drinks rack behind reception. The carpets were threadbare on the stairs and overdue replacement on my floor. The soundproofing on the external windows of the property is excellent but the internal muffling between the rooms and the corridor and floor above is dreadful - you could probably hear a mouse sneeze. My room was clean but the mattress mis-sized for the bed, to which my bruised shin can attest. Breakfast was okay but no more. Visitors on business will be disappointed by the flat-screen tv taking up 80 per cent of the desk.
