It was run down and dirty—I wish I had never booked this hotel

You can find a better place...

I did not enjoy my experience at Hotel Ambasciatori. I stayed in room with one bed and it was extremely small. The air conditioning shuts off in the early morning and does not turn back on until the maid service comes back. Each night my room key needed to be reset. The wifi is only free for one hour and after that you must purchase vouchers to use the wifi. I wish I would have spent more money and stayed in Venice. The bus stop is close to the hotel, that was the best part.

Don't Know If It's Nice Because I Couldn't Stay

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Customer service. They have a front desk staff as friendly and helpful as a Motel 6 desk clerk.
Location: I wouldn't know.
I would love to review this hotel, but I was unable to stay here, despite the fact that they took $580 of my money. After several travel disasters that left me stranded in an airport for 10 hours and diverted to Germany for 5 more, I was greatly looking forward to getting to my reserved hotel room and taking a much-needed nap. When I got there, the woman at the front desk informed me that I was late for my reservation and they would be confiscating my $580. That's fine. I read the fine print and was aware that my reservation was non-refundable. However, one would think, since I paid $580 and still had 2 of my 3 days of that reservation to go, I could still use my two days. Au contraire mon frere. They had rooms available (so it wasn't that they were sold out and had given my room away to some other hapless soul). However, they attempted to extort me for an extra $200 to stay in one of them. When I asked to speak to a manager, she refused. So I left, got on a train to Florence, and found a nice hotel to stay in there for a few nights.

I recommend this hotel. I had a good experience with them. Very helpful, always available for all your needs.

Based on meals at this hotel restaurant, and other places around it. I just need to say, that overall, los italianos don't eat like we do here in the US., amount wise. The orange juice is only one orange, and food portions are small. I weight 115 lb, and I was still hungry after I finished eating my meal. Other than that, the hotel was excellent, I say. Nevertheless, good for those who want to loose weight.

Staff was welcoming and an excellent value

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I have stayed at this hotel in the past and this visit was no different. The check in staff had no problem with my late arrival plans and the included breakfast, while not made to order, was very par for the course for European included breakfasts and very nice by US standards as well.

Good hotel in a good location.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Hotel Ambasciatori in Mestre was exactly what I was looking for: a good hotel at a reasonable price in a good location. The staff at the hotel was outstanding. They made me feel right at home and answered all my questions promptly and with great courtesy. I would highly recommend this hotel to a friend.

Outstanding!

We stayed there in March 2011. Inexpensive (compared to Venice), nice, and convenient. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was accommodative and very friendly. Breakfast was good (scrambled eggs, bacon, rolls, fruit, cereal, pastries). There is actually WiFi in the rooms (not just the lobby). You can get to/from the hotel and the airport using a cab (about 30-40 Euro)...or.... pay 3 Euro to catch the ATVO bus which runs every 30-minutes direct between the airport and Mestre train station (the train station is about 3 blocks from the hotel). No need to drag your luggage up and down bridges in Venice! To get into Venice you can then catch the city bus into Venice. The bus runs every 7 minutes, stops right across the street from the hotel, and only costs 1.20 Euro each way. Takes about 10-minutes to get from the hotel to Venice. We even walked down the street to get dinner at one of several restaurants down the street for about half the cost of a meal in Venice. There were no issues with booking or payment. They knew that we had prepaid with travel agency Overall a smooth experience.

Pleasant Hotel in an ideal location.

As a single traveler, I was stunned at the size of the room. Huge! Clean and pleasant with an attentive staff. After my initial cab ride with luggage, the hotel was within easy walking distance of the train station, even for a semi-elderly, not too thin tourist like myself. From there it is a simple ride out to the island. A good bet for someone on a budget.

Exactly as advertised -- Would stay here again

This hotel met all of our needs. Very clean, well maintained, modern rooms with a helpful staff and convenient location. We just crossed the street for a ten minute ride to the the heart of historic Venice. Internet access worked reasonable well. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and stay here again.
