Nice hotel! Close to the theatre district!

Pros: Location, price, wifi
Cons: A little tlc, but that's it
Location: Theatre district, close to Yonge street
If you want a 5 star hotel, don't stay here. Not because there is anything wrong with it, but because they can't cater to every whim, and there is not a gym, a pool, a business center, a gift shop....you get the idea. What they do have is a convenient location, nice and comfy rooms, a good continental breakfast (toast, cereal, fruit, muffins, oj/milk, coffee, tea). The subway station is close by, and not only do they have a "Gabby's" restaurant downstairs, they have a convenience store across the street. Add to that a super nice staff, free WiFi and good rates per night and you have yourself a great place to stay at and explore Toronto!

Okay but--

Pros: Proximity to the places we wanted to visit. Extremely helpful, knowledgeable desk clerk on August 16.
Cons: Charge less for hotel parking; make sure things work (e.g., a/c).
Location: Quite close to Kensington Market, Casa Loma, and an enormous mall; very easy to get to the main freeway for return to US.
First night was very disappointing: a/c did not work and a fan only moved the hot air around. Desk clerk unaware of how to make a phone call to the US. Second night was better--we were moved to a larger room which had working a/c and the desk clerk knew how to call the US. Parking was very expensive no matter where, including the hotel ($15/day).

Nice, affordable hotel with no frills

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Bar/restaurant conveniently attached. Close to a metro stop. Laundry service provided.
Cons: The cleaning staff was not the most consistent. We'd leave dirty towels on the floor for pick up; they'd take the towels but forget to replace them.
Location: It's not in the main touristy areas (Dundas Square, Front Street/Old Town, Financial District), but it's within walking distance to a metro stop.
We stayed at Isabella for 5 nights during our vacation in Toronto. It was reasonably priced for the city, especially considering the Pan Am games were taking place and likely drove prices up 50%. It was a typical hotel room with a mini fridge, hair dryer, and coffee maker. The 2 person room is tiny, so if you're craving space you might want to shell out more cash for a different hotel. There was a free continental breakfast included each morning (cereal, toast, bananas, muffins, juice, and coffee) and a conveniently situated bar/restaurant (Gabby's) attached to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Isabella is also a couple blocks from Sherbourne metro stop so getting around the city was easy. If you don't require fancy amenities, this is a good option.

I usually stay in the big name hotels downtown, but decided to try this location as it was a short cab ride from Casa Loma. I pre-booked parking(recommended) for $30/night, taxes in You have to park on side street (Isabella) to check in as there is no stopping off Sherbourne. Check in was quick and easy. Was given a key fob to the gated lot across the road for the parking. Hotel is a quaint old building. Very small elevator, but fit the two of us. Room was large enough for us (Deluxe, with queen) and private en suite. Décor and finishings are dated, a little worn....and since an older (historic) building cracks in walls here and there. Bed was comfortable enough. Quiet room. Good nights sleep. Skimped a little with only 2 towels provided. No bathmat, facecloths, hand towels. Only two pillows on the bed. We did see staff delivering additional pillows to another room, but we didn't bother to ask for more. Overall, for what we paid I have no complaints and would recommend to other "budget" travelers. If you're a princess and expect a modern environment, stay downtown and pay double/triple.

Remember that you get what you pay for. The property looked cute from the outside and the lobby was clean and kind of cool. Parking is across the street in an outdoor lot for 30$ which was pricey enough - only 6 parking spots. Good location, proximate to Tim Hortons, a Wine Rack, Shopper's and Fresh Co. The hotel is over Gabby's so food and other are good. The down side (beside the price for parking) - the room was small - double bed and had to turn sideways to get in the shower. There is no tub. The room was clean enough, but not really clean if you know what I mean. It was the difference between clean and "as clean as I can get it". Needs a good scrub and perhaps some power washing to make it look good as new. A paint job would not hurt either. The bathroom was a bit challenging, the room less so. Cleaning staff made the bed, but did not replace used glasses, soap in the bathroom and gave us towels with someone else's hair all over. Some amenities available from front desk, but not all - you can get an iron and ironing board, but not toothpaste. Wi-fi was alright. The elevator is very small. If you are in there with someone, hope that it is someone you know and like, because you will be very close during the ride, especially if there is luggage. The stairs are spaced unevenly and likely to pitch you down them if you come down too quickly. If you are safety minded, there is no safety latch on the door - but there is a deadbolt, for what that's worth.

Extremely small & cramped room, included "breakfast" consisted of warm orange juice & milk, and a selection of 4 out of the box cereals. Toilet ran steady on its own & staff would not listen
