International Plaza Hotel

Pros: Beds
Cons: Hotel staff attitude
Location: It's an airport hotel.
The International Plaza Hotel is no longer called by this name, but no one told us of this and therefore we waited at the airport shuttle stop for over 2 hours in the middle of the night after a 2 hour flight from Winnipeg to Toronto. Upon arrival at the hotel, of course there was no food/ drink source and the night staff had no change for the vending machine, so we had to wait until breakfast..... I had the clear impression that most of the staff hardly cared if we were there or not and simply were waiting for the end of their shift. A bad experience.

Short but satisfying.

Convenient to the airport, hotel dining was terrific, room accommodations were updated and well appointed. Just wish that I could have spent more time during my trip.

The hotel is a very short distance from Pearson airport. The free hotel shuttle is punctual and very convenient. The housekeeping staff is honest, I notified the front desk that I'd left some jewelry out and the housekeeping staff were told not to touch it. There are a lot of restaurant options inside and around the hotel. The lady at the front desk when I checked in early in the morning spoke rather too fast and was quite unclear when she was asking what are probably some standard questions. The bathroom could be cleaner, especially the tub and fittings - soap scum. The velvet sofa in the room was old and looked dirty. You can hear planes taking off (take ear buds if you are sensitive to sound). The curtains don't close completely very well and so the bright light from the edges disturbs sleep.

Hotel seemed to be in a general state of decline. Air conditioning in guest room was broken, shower hot water took 10 minutes to warm, the carpeting was detaching from the floor in wavy pattern, ceiling had sloppily patched holes. Restrooms in common areas were rather in need of cleaning, but guest room cleanliness was at least okay. I would have checked out early had I been staying more than one night.

Old.

Pros: Check in staff were friendly.
Cons: Renovation. Cleaning.
Location: A few restaurant chains only 10 min walk away.
There are better options in the YYZ area. This hotel was old and dirty.

Your Average Experience at an Average Hotel

Pros: Free Internet, great pool and hot tub
Cons: Noisy, expensive parking, no on-floor vending machines
The lobby and other common areas are very impressive, the room itself was well appointed if not a little small. The room service food was good, the pool and hot tub clean, the room itself was in decent shape. There were some cleanliness issues in the bathroom, the staff was a bit noisy in the AM, you have to go all the way to the lobby for a vending machine and I've never seen a hotel charge as much as it does for you to park your car there. All in all, the price for what they give you makes this hotel average at best. Not bad - you just pay a lot for what you get, which is nothing special. Average.
